Forums - Nintendo - which console did N64 users move onto?

console after N64

Gamecube 146 42.94%

Xbox 20 5.88%

ps2 141 41.47%

pc 10 2.94%

non above 23 6.76%

Total:340

I was disappointed with N64 that midway I got a PS1 and from then on I stuck with Playstation as my main.

I still enjoyed my N64 and my Wii and Wii U, but they're nothing more than a party system for me, and something to entertain my little nephews.

I never know Nintendo before Gen 7. Heck, I even using emulator to play SNES games on PS2 and thought Mario is a PS thing (I was 8 years old at that time).

A handheld gamer only (for now).

I'm willing to bet a huge chunk of then either never played games again. It was a party game console. "The fun machine". And, aside from a rare occasion with Gears of War and Dance Central, the last time anybody ever wanted to hang out with me and just play games.

lol.

A "huge chunk" of them went on to buy other games consoles....

Lot of typos in my earlier post due to the fact that, whenever I post from my phone, I can't see what I told (thanks alot, KFC pop up ad).

I can't define what a "huge chunk" is.  A lot of people did move to PlayStation and Xbox.  I'm one of them.  A few stuck with Nintendo.  A few quit gaming altogether as gaming got more and more complicated.  Nintendo themselves designed the Wii to get some of those gamers back.  There wereinterIews saying the wii remote was designed to look like a tv remote because it was less intimidating than a controller.

I personally know people who gamed during the NES generation that thought the super NES was too complicated.  It happens.

I did this too.  I used to be Nintendo exclusive but the low price of PlayStation games, the disc space of CDs, and just the overall quality of games made me but a PlayStation.  Been amulti-platform guy since the day I saw Tekken 2.

Those i remember just kinda..... grew up.  It's depressing, actually. I just made myself sad.

I hope that was a sarcastic post! N64 was a great console to just play with friends on a wet n windy day though

Seriously!

So many people played GoldenEye together.  Mario Kart. Star Fox.  Quake.  It was the thing to do in the 90's.  Grab three friends and play N64 all night.  Even the box called it " The fun machine".  But, as I said, when the console died, so did a lot of those good times.  Look at your ps2 and your Gamecube.  They were mostly offline single player experiences.  Halo and Halo 2 filled a void but (aside from no one actually owning an xbox) online hadn't taken off yet.  That "party gamer"--that casual gamer may have just stopped gaming.

I'm just speaking from personal experience, though.  I'm probably wrong.  I just know that, of my circle of gamers, hardly any of them game these days...... or they hate me.

One of the best Tekken there is!

Eh... we could assume that a good deal of them went onto the Gamecube. The rest most likely to the PS2. A lot I'm sure owned both.

I was a Nintendo and PlayStation gamer in the 5th gen and that did not change in the following gen!

Had an N64 and a PS1. Moved on to PS2. I did end up buying a Gamecube when they came out with the Zelda's Collector's Edition, with the disc of the old Zelda games.
