Only the upgrade is free (for now), you just get to choose whether you want to buy a good OS you can upgrade to a crappy OS for free, or buy a crappy OS outright. Than again, Windows 8/10 have bigger problems than that. There's making a bad OS, like with Vista, and then there's taking things in a completely wrong direction, like the path Microsoft has been on for a while, with only minor course correcting.

Yet overall, reviewers seem to think that W10 is a great OS, a massive step up from W8.1 and a natural progression from W7 :).

I switched back to 8.1 after the announcement of deleting pirated games and the general privacy things. You have 1 month after installing Win 10 to quickly rollback to the previous version you had installed, so I decided to make the switch to avoid any complications.

And call me crazy, but games run better on 8.1 than 10, at least from what I've seen.

Did you switch back after everyone was misinformed?

I for one put the technical preview builds on a tablet, and I've been getting builds for my phone since they've been released. Not sure how big the chunk is, but I'm definitely a part of it. I know the total userbase of windows phone is comically small, though, so it might be more tablet than phone. I've avoided putting it on my laptop for now.

With the video streaming issues and forced updates crashing the system, I'm still waiting for them to fix W10 to install it.

I switched back to 7. My computer simply ran slower with Windows 10. It's unfortunate, because it sounds like everyone really enjoys Windows 10 and the Edge browser isn't available on 7.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

Android sold more than 1 billion smartphones in 2014 alone. Android is still the worlds most popular OS.

And your point is?

I would ask how Microsoft knows the exact number of people using Win10.... but heck they could release stats of exactly where you are in the house when you watch your porn with the amount of info the Home versions of win10 push back to them.

I'm still more than happy with Win7 find it literally perfect for my needs from an OS and ya don't mess with perfection. (I'm well aware that Win10 has a lot more security features loaded into its shell that Win7 has, it makes Win7 look like an open door in terms of side by side security in fact, still not my thing tho)
