Here's an idea, ask the Vita how Iconic it thinks the Playstation is.

You do know that same logic can be used against Nintendo right?

Whatever it is, Wii U Nintendo exclusives are among the best selling games of 8 gen

edit: Nintendo games are among the best selling games of any generation (even excluding handhelds)

Nintendo never wins even when they win. Didnt you know that?

The point is they WON. The only Nintendo console in that list that is still developed for is... Well, none of them. Only the XB360 still has software regularly released for it on that list.

Saying that people in EU don't associate any first party games with Playstation is laughable, but expected from you. Wipeout, Gran Turismo, Jak, Ratchet and Clank, God of War, LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted are all heavily associated with the brand.

It is of course easier to have more iconic franchises tied to your brand whenthird parties aren't interested in releasing games for your system to provide competition.

The mainstream public don´t think on those games here when you talk about PS, at all, they think on GTA, CoD, Fifa, Assasins Creed and little more, you only have to take a look to the best selling games on PS3 and Ps4 in Europe, none of those you named are even on the top 10, while with Nintendo they think on their most iconic franchises, wich are indeed Nintendo franchises.

And please, stop atacking me everytime I have an opinion.

We are talking about iconic franchises, not sales. If you don't think that a lot of people think of Uncharted and Gran Turismo when they think of PS, then you are mistaken.

And if you want to talk sales, the Wii U makes it very clear that all these iconic franchises aren't good enough to make a successful console.

Sometimes I know just by looking at a thread title that it'll stir up quite a bit of controversy, this thread did not disappoint.

Anyway, I feel as though the Playstation name is a lot more iconic than most recent Nintendo systems. I'd argue it's even more iconic than the Wii... actually I know it is XD but the games are less so. Sony tends to cycle through IPs while Nintendo keeps theirs. While less iconic, I still think -at least by name- Playstation is iconic in itself. I fail to see how both can't be iconic at the same time.

What are you talking about? Nintendo sold 250 milions of consoles last generation, period. Just because they have a bad generation now doesnt mean they are irrelevant or just because Wii appeal to the casual market doesnt mean it didn´t won.

No? Then take a look to the 3Ds and the sales of first party games on WiiU, because is pretty clear that those games have a massive appeal. The system didn´t had succes NOT because the nintendo franchises are not popular, the system itself was not appealing and it had a terrible market.

Nintendo. I just asked my friends, one of them is a Nintendo fan, one plays only on PC and the other one had 360 last generation. All of them said Nintendo. You have to think about the brand name, the company and it's mascots. Nintendo succeded with making Mario, Zelda a name to recognize. My mother knows who Mario is, but not Nathan, Spyro etc. I would even say that Sega is more iconic than Sony.

I am a Nintendo fanatic.

Actually Gran Turismo is. Oh and Uncharted sells more per game than AC in Europe as well.

Assasins creed III outsold Uncharted and Uncharted 2, and there is no Uncharted on the top 10.

Edit: Apparently it double posted halfway through me posting. See a couple posts down.

IMO PlayStation has already surpassed Nintendo, long ago even.

Imo, it hasn't and never will because Nintendo, unlike Sony, built franchises up that have lasted 30 years. How many franchises did Sony build for PS1 that still sell in the multi million rage? Most of the franchises that survived from the PS1 era are third party. The first party games that did survive (are there any?) are a shell of their former self. When I think of Playstation, I think awesome third party support and hardware dominance. When I think of Nintendo, I think of iconic IP that stood the test of time. I think of a company that gave birth to the entire modern industry.

Nintendo created the template that Sony used to make their debut system. No Nintendo? No Playstation. It's really that simple.
