I was hoping for a ND around the last week of August in time for Super Mario Maker. and hopefully other Nintendo updates as well.

Honestly Nintendo was probably in a state of chaos after Iwata's passing. I think once they get a new president leading the company they will eventually get a Nintendo direct under production. I don't know how long it usually takes to elect a new president of a company the size of nintendo's but we might not see a new direct until October the earliest. :/

Do we really need a new direct?? I mean they will just show holiday line up which we know. Then we have likely very little early next year and then E3 will likely be the reveal of NX with it launching November that year.

Of Course not!

Iwata died, not only he was head of Nintendo but he was running Nintendo Directs.

Nintendo need little time to adapt and would be pretty inconvenient if had Nintendo Direct so fast after death of Iwata who was icon of Nintendo Directs.

We will have Nintendo Direct in September, possible just before Mario Maker launch.
