Forums - Movies & TV - Fantastic 4 on its way to bombing this weekend! 27-30 million is predicted...

Good. Maybe this will stop the trend of increasingly mediocre and lazy superhero movies.

Good. The movie looks bad and I'm getting tired of these super hero movies.

LOL, this is not going to stop anything, sadly. Avengers AoU just made +1 billion dollars.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Rest in pieces :(
I've heard that the thing is not wearing pants. eww.

Just send Ant-Man and MI5 back to the top. They deserve it. I watched a stream today and I don't feel one iota of guilt about it. It confirmed all my fears.

I am Iron Man

it seems people are finally getting fed up of superheroes movies, it was about time.

Not at all surprising. It'll be interesting to see though you many people try to use this and Ant-Man as evidence that superhero movies are declining now.

But Ant-Man has been successful?

But in terms of how bad the movie is, it deserves a box office something more like Gigli. The fact it might end up with $50 million world wide in its first weekend is too good for it.

F4 is benefiting from the Marvel hype even though it isn't associated with the MCU in any way, other than coming from the same source universe, which only comic book fans really know. To put it bluntly, I reckon this movie would have got 1/2 what it looks like getting if the MCU series of movies didn't exist.

Interesting that boxoffice mojo was predicitng $45 million before Friday numbers rolled in.

Wrt Ant-Man it all depends on what Marvel-Disney's expectations were for it. It has the lowest production budget out of all th MCU movies, which is a clear indication that they had modest expectations for it. And because of it's modest (for a MCU movie) budget it has already gone well past break even. I think Marvel-Disney are more than happy with how Ant-Man did. You can't expect every MCU movie to make $600M+ as long as every movie is profitable at the box office there is no reason to look to an early end for MCU movies.

F4 on the otherhand will be put on extended, indefinite leave until the collective memories of the moviegoing public forget this particular version ever existed.
