Sadly, even GPGPU is nothing new: http://www.gpucomputing.net/sites/default/files/papers/1098/CEC_2008.pdf

Everything has already been done before...

I remember you initially wishing for a short thread and now you trying to make this into a Xbox One vs PS4 debate? Come on, seriously?

What? How is that a console war thing? It is about tech that has been used before. OP mentions destruction of objects, I name GPGPU. You know that Xbone is also capable of GPGPU?

Also I didn't want the thread to be short but short in people understanding where the difference is when comparing a last gen game with Crackdown 3.

The Wii U's GPU also doubles as GPGPU.

people ought to give it a rest. With the power of the cloud, the XB1 is the most powerful console out there. Crackdown devs admitted to this themselves so I don't know what the big deal is.

By this time next year when every upcoming game is using this azure tech XB1 will become the definitive multiplatform console.

Yes, not as pretty but still.

I think it really reinforces the point about how unfortunate the situation of devs utilising power mostly for graphics and nothing more. Modern hardware can do a lot more then we give it credit for but we're in this trap of expecting nothing but glorious grafix! I'm sure theres plenty of unique experiences that can be achieved if devs sacrifice graphics for other stuff like physics, ai, scale etc

I will support all of them.

have fun playing your games if the servers doesnt work, your connection doesnt work, the servers get turned off and co.

People now a days celebrate always on.

If I lose Internet connection for an always online game on my Xbone, I'll just watch some TV 📺 on my Xbone or play some BC 360 games to clear some backlog. If I lose Internet connection for an always online game on my PS4, I'll just watch some TV on PS Vue or play some BC on PS Now to clear some backlog.

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

I've played the Red Faction games on 360, nothing happened in them at the same scale as Crackdown 3.

It's not a new concept, but Crackdown 3 is just 200% more impressive. The scale of it is way bigger and the buildings are bigger and aren't as sparsely spread out as in a desert. Also, that Red Faction game was not that well received and killed the franchise if I remember correctly.

Maybe the difference is on the scale: open world with huge buildings.

We will see.

Anyways, I said on the previous thread that I would like to see comparisons from new Crackdown to other games with destructible environments.

I think it is way to early to say what Crackdown 3 can and cannot do.

The only difference one can see is scale, which is easily computable but the power gap between last gen and current gen,

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

The point is, is that crackdown is done on a larger scale and that could be done on the actual hardware rather than cloud computing. If last gen could do it on this scale, current gen should do the exact same thing but on a larger scale without server farms.

What's funny is destructible environments would look even better this gen, thanks to the better specs. Of course, this way MS can get away with its always online BS from the start of the gen, using "teh power of the cloud" as an excuse to pull it off. And of course, some just lap it up.
