That is unbelievable numbers for Animal Crossing. I would think fans would be unimpressed with its design and execution.
But wow, 500k in its opening week. Games barely sell that much lifetime in Japan. That is Pokemon level sales.

So you're estimating 500k PS4s sold from september to december? That's not optimistic.
If the PS4 sells 20k average per week from the beggining of september to the end of November (it's currently selling 17k a week in the slowest period of the year, and it has Metal Gear Solid) it'll have sold 260k before september starts, and if it then sells the same as it did last holiday, it'll have sold 430k in sep-dec, and that's the minimum, so claiming 2.2 million is optimistic is already hyperbole, regardless of whether Sony cuts the price or not.
Looks like total HW exceeded 100k this week, thanks to AC and 3DS. We don't see that happen very often these days, do we...
