He's right, they shouldn't be afraid at all. I bet my ass TR will do about the same as Fallout 4 on launch week (X1 only, obviously). It'll be fine.

Wait, wait, wait... So you mean that it's useless to have too many games releasing in the Holliday season because we can't enjoy all of them fully, and it could be best to release games during other months of the year?

I'd say TR will get outsold by Fallout (on the XB1) by 2:1 easily.

It may even be more than 2:1. Fallout has been on Amazon's hourly charts for a while now. I haven't seen TR on the hourly charts, as of yet. Plus, all 3 Pip-Boy Editions, sit on the top sellers of 2015 chart.

and imagine if there was somebody that liked a game like tomb raider more than they liked fallout... if only that were possible. 

They are completely different genres; this is a given.

As much as there is a demand for open world games these days, not all consumers play them.

But, it's also a given that the typical game consumer plays multiple genres and will generally prioritize one type over the other. Given the choice between Fallout 4 and Tomb Raider, safe money goes to Fallout.

However, Tomb Raider is not debuting on the PS4, so it will have a different consumer base limited to the XBO. Who knows? Maybe the "play it first on Xbox" appeal will result in more XBO owners to play Tomb Raider before Fallout.

Either way, Fallout will take sales away from Tomb Raider. Any statements or claims to the contrary are simply in the interest of alleviating fear among developers who don't want to see their game perform below expectations and investors who would rather see higher numbers being sold.

Games like TR and Fallout 4 have legs, they will continue to sell thought out the holiday season which normally means people have alot more spending money in the first place. Also not every one is going to buy Fallout 4, thats a different audience altogether. To say *if someone can only get one game they'll pick Fallout 4 over Tomb Raider* is ridiculas, your comparing apples to oranges. If somehow TR is the same game as Fallout then yes, however its not, thats like saying Fallout will outsell Uncharted if they released at the same time. Not all of X1s audience is going to buy Fallout 4, becasue FO4 isnt going to sell 13 million copies, it might sell 2 million, and where does that leave the rest of the X1 owners?

Ill be picking TR over FO4 so your point of gamers will choose FO4 over TR is invalid.

TR may be older than most of those but it's not more popular than most of the games releasing in the same time period.

Seems like you're forgetting on purpose that gamers can and often play a variety of games in different genres. It can be any combination of genres. There's no easy way to slice that up. Each game releasing in the same time period compete with eachother regardless of their genre. 

You're also "forgetting" that it's the holidays and everyone is following some sort of budget. Between getting gifts and traveling to visit family, most avid gamers will have enough for a few games but what games will they buy?

Halo, gears and fallout will be on most xbox one gamers must buy list. That's $180 right there. It's not the end of the world for a gamer to wait on a game. 

Then what difference does it make if TR got pushed back next month? Its still the holiday season. Releasing TR early means its available for those who dont want to buy Fallout 4 etc. If TR doesnt sell because of another title in its first week, doesnt mean its not going to sell at all. Its better to make as much sales early then releasing it later anyway. TR has a fan following and it will sell regardless, it might not top the charts but does that matter? Mario Kart 8 still sells incredibly well even to today, if the game has legs then its not an issue and judging from CD's comments they have faith there game will do well. 

Fallout 4 might have the hype behind it but not all X1 owners will be intrested which leaves 80% of its audience to play other type of games. Varity doesnt hurt anybody and to me, TR is a day one buy and FO4 will come afterwards, they both still make there sales.
