Forums - Nintendo - Why doesn't Nintendo make more games for it's systems?

I just hope they make some new IPs and bring back some older franchises.
Mario, Zelda and Pokémon all make Assassins Creed games look like they are few and far between at this point...

How is that?

Assassin's Creed has had 9 main games since its introduction in 2007, which averages 1 game per year.

Mario has had 5 main games since 2007 (6 if we count Super Mario Maker), which averages .56 (or .66) games per year.

Zelda has had 4 main games since 2007, which averages .44 games per year.

Pokemon has had 7 main games since 2007, which averages .77 games per year.

Lol, asking a bit much? They aren't slaves uknow.

Nintendo will always put the Japanese market first. That's just something everyone needs to deal with. So they wont ever be like Sony for better or worse.

Explain how that is spinning.

The really don't have enough people at all...

Nintendo Employees: >3000

EA Employees: 9370

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_development_teams
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_Arts

And Nintendo is a hardware company... So yea... The fact that they can even release this many games is amazing

That's not Nintendo employees, the 3000 figure is not up to date. Nintendo has over 5000 employees, and the numbers had been rising for years now:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo At worst, 3000+ is the number of pure video game developers which have nothing to do with the hardware or other non-programming related.

It also excludes the developers from their partner studios like Intelligent Systems or HAL Laboratory.

Welp, thats what I get for trusting wiki with google search + being lazy

Either ways, it is quite impressive imo still since Nintendo still has two hardware to manage while companies like EA who still have quite a bit more employees don't

I wasn't including spinoffs/remakes for any of the series. Assassin's Creed had like 7 of those but I don't consider them true and new AC games, just like the upcoming Tri Force Heroes isn't legit Zelda, and Mario Party 10 isn't legit Mario.

I think development will be faster with the NX given that it may have a better architecture and Nintendo will be used to developing games in HD. Which really screwed them at the beginning with the Wii U.

Again, as i said, this is something that nintendo can fix NEXT gen.For wii u is too late. And while DQ XI isint confirmed and just rumored, it is a good sign that nintendo is trying to fix that problem

No offense but one niche Japanese game means nothing.  Yes, they could fix it, but that would require a massive overhaul to eveything - this took Sony an entire generation to 100% nail down.

Dragon quest is niche? What lol
