The 3rd pillar in Nintendo's presentation that everyone wanted to speculate what it is, i.e., hybrid, a handheld, etc. even the hardware specs are speculated by a lot of people which we really don't know and no confirmed leaks for NX's hardware parts as of the moment.

Guessing game until we have few months coming to a Nintendo announcement.

They specifically stated it is a home console and while that can be ''interpreted'' there are a lot of rumors of which 90% of are completely baseless, yet there are some that have interesting parts to them

Fusion: No, a lot of people insist this would resolve nintendo's ''software'' problem, mitigating the ''dry'' periods because their studios would be less spread in developing things for different platforms; Now why not? simple, this is the least of nintendo's problems, there are bigger things that should be bothering them, they are bothering us videogame fans, and i don't want to insult anyone's intelligence by explaining them.

QoL: No, the late Mr. Iwata specifically stated QoL has nothing to do with videogames, there has been some patent sheets QoL related flying around the net and some people are saying they must ''be the NX'', baseless, lifeless, hypeless, don't even know where this rumor comes from.

Othe platforms: No, nintendo has made it clear they want people to percieve them as a video games, specifically, a console manufacturer and that is what NX embodies.

Something else: No, because Stone Cold said so.

NX is a home console for sure, and while it is not a hybrid (wouldn't it be weird to have a console run on part fossil fuel? )it may very well be both a handheld and a home console, that's what im most inclined to, a handheld (coming first?) and a home console coming shortly after that share the same platform, maybe some software but that's it, no ''fusion'' ''docking'' or ''combining'' in any way shape or form, just two separated devices that are similar enough to share a codename, but not to the point most people seem inclined to think.

It's not QoL. NX was confirmed to be dedicated gaming hardware while QoL is confirmed to be non-gaming related devices with an emphasis on health and down the road education.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Redundant thread. We already have official confirmation that it's a home console.

New (nintendo) eXperience

NX will be a unified firmware platform for Nintendo's future hardware. It will support both first party handheld and console hardware, but no rival hardware. No PS4, XBO, Vita, mobile, or PC will be part of NX. Nintendo's new rewards program, however, will transcend the NX and unify Nintendo with its mobile and PC presence as well.

Side note, I still think Nintendo's PC presence will be a social network-like that focuses on small, free-to-start, browser-based games. So no Nintendo on Steam. But Nintendo's partnership with Facebook has been rather curious...

So no, not a fusion, and not a hybrid. A unification.

Fusion between home console and handheld.
