So... With these shootings happening Sadly too many times in the US.. How many times was the killer shot down by an average Joe who had a gun?

give all of them the trigger to a massive bomb beneath the playground that would kill all of them in an instant (trigger only works on the playground)

I'm sure that will act as deterrence and make them all behave

Really? This guy thinks MORE guns is going to lower shootings? What a fucking idiot. The reason the U.S. has so many shootings is BECAUSE there are so many guns there.

Use simple logic, get rid of guns, and murder rates will drop drastically.

If that worked in reality. All cities with harsh gun laws have extremely high crime. News flash, criminalizing guns will only the field an easier target for criminals.

So the solution should be to militarize the whole country? How safe would that feel? Why is it that so, so, so many countries with far stricter gun laws have so much less killing by firearms per capita than the US? This whole gun mentality that some Americans have is the very reason there are so many shootings in that country.

There is an easy solution to American gun problem: Ban all guns, have a 5-year period to allow people to turn them in.
And for each gun turned in, they get a free iPad, iPhone, PS4, XOne or something similar of their choice.
Problem solved.

The main problem is that the US has failed to take measures several decades if not centuries ago. Of course it's going to be incredibly hard to collect all firearms while stop selling them freely to (nearly) everyone.

Even then, buying illegal arms would still be possible. That can mostly and only be solved by better education and equality to eradicate reasons to own a gun. The gap between rich and poor is just faaaar too big in the US currently.

But increasing the amount of guns in circulation definitely won't do anything good.

Those kids are not domestic terroristist.  And ISIS stated it was their doing as they have made threats about hitting us at home.  But who knows if there is any truth to that or just scare tactics.

If the Marines were armed you can bet your ass all four of them would not have died, maybe only one, maybe two or maybe none.  The dude obviously knew it was a gun free zone.

In that situation, if parents enable one side to have rocks when they're not supposed to by not taking them away/harsher punishments then yes the best option is to give your kid a rock to defend himself or herself.

People with ill intent often prey on others who can't or won't defend themselves.

And? No one is claiming being armed makes you invincible. The idea is that in the event that someone is trying to do you harm you have a means to protect yourself. Like say in this instance...

or this one... http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/georgia-mom-shoots-home-intruder-face-article-1.1234400

I could take up a whole page with these.

Your tit-for-tat reply does nothing to to further the argument for allowing innocent, law-abiding, free men/women from owning and/or carrying a firearm to protect themselves. We could probably link to many stories where people are killed (and not necessarily by a firearm) for their jewelry, their cell-phone or their sneakers... http://www.myfoxhouston.com/story/24277622/2013/12/20/son-killed-over-air-jordans-now-mother-raising-awareness

The bottom line here is that the arguments against free people excercising their right to keep and bear arms is born out of unrational fear and disdain. And while you certainly cannot prevent all tragedy, you can make sure that innocent people are allowed to defend themselves and others.

I made no argument, I was just showing that the assinine mantra of 'Only a good person with a gun, can stop a bad person with a gun', is actually not true.  Beyond that, I said nothing else.  The absolute most you could derive from my post is that, maybe you (as in the folks who subscribe to this thinking) should come up with better arguments.
