Sounds like its sales have increased by 40% cumulatively over the first 6 months of the year, rather than being 40% up for the month, but I might be wrong on that.

TOT: 762k

762k x 1.4 = 1,067k ( minimum )

1,067k - 945k (what 3DS sold since May)= 122k

Must be good, but all we know for now is that it's up at leat 10.58% YOY, and that would be if it sold 1 more unit than the Xbox One.

interesting 9 of the 10 games have a a ps4 and xbox one version. of those the ps4 sold the most for 3 the one 3 and the three others to the 360. Both the ps4 and the one were also second for 4 of the games.
