What comeback? Yearly, the PS3 outsold the 360, worldwide, except for 2008, I believe. Other than that, it was always ahead. How else would it have caught the 360? The 1 year lead/8 million unit gap between the PS3 and 360 didn't just disappear in one fell swoop after 2011. PS3 was always chipping away at it, and the only way to slowly close the gap is to continually sell better than the competition (a concept that the character we know as TheDrill, couldn't grasp). So, how can it be a "comeback" when the PS3 always sold better?
People really misconceive the PS3s launch because of the terrible PR at the time. But think about this: MS always likes to tout "XBOne has outsold XB360 for the same time period they were out". PS3 did the same. Yet, somehow the 360 launch was fine and the PS3s launch was "terrible" and needed a "comeback"? Doesn't make any sense.
Sorry for rant. The "comeback" has just been a frustrating talking point for about 4 years now. Even when you're using it in a positive context.
