Forums - Nintendo - so what is going on with Fatal Frame V and Devil's Third?

What people need to realize is that one day there won't be a physical option (no matter what Reggie says). It may be 50 or 100 years from now, but I'm confident it will be a 100% digital world one day so we should just get over it now. there are more important things to concern yourself with.

I hope this doesn't happen. We are physical beings in a phsycial world. We need to touch things. Even if we are not talking about video games, other things apply as well in entertainment, such as comic books or movies. If anything, while they will be more accessible, I just hope that physical reamins the go to.

Your willing to sacrifice more advanced and modern games just because you like to have discs that get scratched and chip? Well, ok then lol.

How much more modern can games get? I take good care of my games, so they don't get scratched or chipped.

Well, as I am pleased with visuals (still) from the gamecube era, visually speaking I'd say only so much better, but in terms of how BIG games can be, well let's just say we didn't have things like No Man's Sky 10-15 years ago. I like massive worlds, the bigger the merrier imo.

I hope there's a physical version. If Fatal Frame V is digital then I can't get it sadly since i only have the 8gb Wii U model. The file size of the game is 16gb. =(

You don't know that you can simply buy a cheap USB stick or USB HD and use it with the Wii U?

I have a 3 TB hard drive on my Wii U so regardless of format I'm buying both games, they need the support, specially Fatal Frame if we want more titles in the west in the future.

Seriously? 50 years? It will take only a few years from now before physical copies will be a rarity. In 10 years 95% of the gaming market will be digital only.

i do want the game. i want to be able to hold it in my hand and keep it forever. im not supporting digital only releases of games like this. there is no reason to not make a physical copy of the game. they are just being greedy.

let me ask you this question though, how many times does this have to happen before YOU personally see it as a problem? i draw the line at one game, for you, im sure if this happened more and more you would be quite annoyed, ESPECIALLY when considering the low amount of storage that is on the wii u in the first place. im not taking any part in supporting this kind of stuff. if other people dont mind downloading it and playing it, then i am happy for them that they get to play it. but i want my physical release, and they should be catering to that audience.

So again - you don't really want the game if the deciding factor between getting it or not is a boxed copy.  If you wanted it, you'd buy a digital copy if that's the only way of getting it.

Which is fine, you're entitled to your opinion.  But it leaves little room to manouver when arguing for niche games coming west in future, because if you're saying "retail or not at all" then the majority of publishers that have anything about them are just going to say "fine, not at all then".  Which they're more than entitled to do too.

Nintendo included.  Perhaps if digital as an option had existed on their ecosystem last generation they'd have used it to get across games like Zangeki no Reginleiv or Takt of Magic on Wii; Soma Bringer or ASH on DS.  At least it may be the option that they're taking this generation with Fatal Frame, a game which is more equally as niche as any of those.

Regarding the bolded, by the way, I'm a Vita owner.  Our biggest possible storage space is 64GB, which sounds like a lot for a handheld but seriously isn't when you can have 3GB+ games which grow even larger with patches.  Plus no physical backwards compatibility with PSP so any PSP games you want to play on it have to be downloaded.  And PS1 games.

And you know, I am a massive advocate of physical releases.  I'll petition whoever and tweet at whoever to ask them to do a physical release.  And if it comes down to it, I'll often import from USA/Asia if there's a physical option available there that isn't available in the UK.

But if digital is the only option and it's a game that I want to play, then I'll buy it digitally.  And normally, it's something so niche that I'm just thankful I'm available to enjoy it in English at all.

I'm an old-fashioned videogame fan.  I enjoy physical boxes I can look at on my shelf.  But at the end of the day, games are why I'm a gamer, not boxes, and to purposefully deprive myself of an enjoyable experience because of something as petty as not getting the form of media I want it just bizarre to me.

I said 100% may take that long. There will always be hold outs, no matter how illogical. I, myself, was once a big physical advocate, but now I only want digital when I go NX. I'm tired of switching discs.

Considering Nintendo decided to release the Wii U with such a small amount of internal flash memory they should commit to the release of physical media for the life of the console. If they wanted to release 16GB games digitally then they should have allowed for that and either had a bigger flash drive or a HDD.
Now I know that an external hard drive isn't too expensive, I got a 2TB for $109 AUD but if you need to add that to the price of a Wii U the console price is now just as high as a PS4.

BTW, as an older gamer I smile when anyone from the USA complains about poor treatment. Trying living in Australia. Admittedly it's a lot better than it used to be but I'm still waiting for Fullblast on E Shop and games like Fast Racing League on Wii never saw the light of day here at all. Not to mention no Commodore 64 virtual console support etc etc rant rant rant....

95% of the gaming market won't have the internet capacity to download 100gig plus games.

People who spout the imminent death of physical games, don't live in places with bad internet.
