Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Digitimes: Nintendo NX will be released in 2016.

Zelda and a 3D Mario could realistically both be ready for that launch window.

The 3D World team has largely been free since fall 2012, by 2016 you're getting into *four* years without a new project from the main EAD Tokyo team.

Zelda can be Twilight Princessed.

Bada bing, bada boom. There's your launch window.

Even Mario Kart 9 for NX is likely well into development by now, the dev team there wrapped on MK8 a year ago.

What kills Nintendo is they have to support 2 platforms, so when they were launching the Wii U, they exhausted themselves trying to save the 3DS and focused a ton on the 3DS, which then predictably led to a large lull in Wii U software. Now they are releasing more Wii U games, but you can see 3DS owners are upset because they're not getting a good flow of games.

If you unify, this isn't an issue, Nintendo would be able to focus on launching one product and could easily release several good games within the first 6-8 months. So launching in 2016 wouldn't be an issue if that's the direction they're going in.

I hate the idea of a fusion and hope it doesnt happen. But it seems likely so oh well.

Ignoring thr source, this news also sounds ridiculous but the source just makes me go into wait and see mode. Not gonna beleive it though.

"I think that NX is afordible portable that can be connected on TV."

Isnt that a home console? Unless your talking like PS TV cheap ?

Not exactly, handheld with screen and controls that can be can be connected on TV and use it like home console too, basically handheld and home console in one hardware, hybrid, it would target handheld and home users at same time. I think about $250 price, maybe even $200, but certainly not $300.

Mmmm... mm.... nah

Gake and Fay

2017

If they expect to sell 20 million nx units in 2016 then there is no way they are waiting until e3 to announce and launch the console. If this is true, we are probably going to get a launch in quarter 1.

Actually the last 3D Mario was Fall 2013, that's still a solid 3 years. We could potentially see something like this

NX Portable, Japan-July, West-August. One big handheld-centric release (Animal Crossing) along with 1-2 smaller support titles. Another 1-2 small/mid size games for September/October to keep momentum going into the holidays. NX Console, West-November, Japan-December. One big console-centric title (Zelda, cross-plat with Wii U) & one big title popular among console & handheld (3D Mario). Retro Studios Project-Q1 2017, Mario Kart 9-Q2 2017, Hyrule Warriors 2-Q3 2017, Pokémon Gen 7-Q4 2017 along with a handful of smaller titles in between.

Something like that would give NX a solid first 1-1.5 years.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Leaving aside the false statement that Miyamotoo points in the OP, there are also a couple of things that scream FAKE!!!

"The orders are expected to be finalized in February or March 2016 and mass production will start in May or June 2016, while the console's official launch may take place around July"

"Nintendo reportedly is looking to ship 20 million Nintendo NX in the first year".

Are they really trying to tell us that Nintendo, who desperately needs the NX to success (if it's a home or hybrid console), will launch it on July, one of the slow months of the year? And then they say that the machine to launch after being on mass production for only 1, with hope two, full months and still sell 20 million units of it?

Impossible.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

July ? Nobody release a console in July, another fake.

I don't necessarily think the article is legit, but I do think the NX launches in 2016.
