Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Digitimes: Nintendo NX will be released in 2016.

Wii U will gain cult status in time too. The system was basically destined for it.

Also at this stage of the game the GameCube did not have Baten Kaitos, RE4, Metroid Prime 2, or several other games, so if it's a little unfair to add in games when you're not factoring in what the Wii U could add to its library.

I personally was really dissapointed with the GameCube. I felt like Nintendo allowed Microsoft to basically take the FPS market away completely unchallenged, totally f*cked up the Mario 64 and Zelda: OoT/MM sequels but adding changes that no one asked for, and became very far removed from classic Nintendo. The system wasn't even going to have a d-pad in the original design, Miyamoto only relented at the last minute and they basically used the same tiny d-pad from the GBA (awful).

GameCube is something I'll always look at as having a lot of potential, but it all got blown.

MCV believe the NX was demoed at E3 to third party.

Where there's this much smoke, there's probably fire. I think third parties in the West getting dev kits is fairly imminent, probably by the end of summer if not sooner.

It's very unlikely without cult games and only 2-3 excellent games, GC is THE console that brought the first Metroid Prime, it's big and it was already cult when it released, it's as cult as Zelda OOT for metroid fans.

It's not unfair, it just shows how Wii U died much faster in reality, WII U will never have those games, no matter how long you wait, it's even over before the GC since it's harder and longer to develop a game nowadays , so they had to shift dev to NX much sooner, like 2 years before NX launch if they want to make a game a bit ambitious. Only remain games already announced.

I dont understand how you cant like GC and worse, prefer Wii U, while GC had so many more quality exclusives and even a lot more 3rd party support, exclusive and multi platform ( who didnt play TimeSplitters 2 on Gamecube )

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

i dont belive this whatsoever july is too early

Even more rumors, though I doubt it, especially if the NX is a home console

I really don't take Metroid as seriously as others do. I found the Prime games to be a bit boring to be honest. It's a loud, vocal fanbase on the internet, but in terms of actual sales, Metroid is definitely in the B-tier of Nintendo IP. Splatoon is probably going to outsell all three of the Metroid Prime games on a smaller userbase.

Also Splatoon, Super Mario Maker, Xenoblade X, Bayonetta 2, Star Fox Zero, Mario 3D World, Wonderful 101, Devil's Third, Fatal Frame, Pikmin 3, Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros. U is more than just 2-3 games.

If they can release in 2016, the question is why - why will it be that easy to port games to it.  Is it essentially an upgraded Wii U?

I would get that- Nintendo needs a do-over on branding and needs to re-launch without a GamePad.  But if the device plays Wii U games and supports the GamePad we already own optionally - then it could be a platform to continue Mario Kart 8 sales - surely they aren't happy with 5 million.

On the other hand, if this thing sells 20 million - that's great for Nintendo but lets not pretend that the Wii U and 3DS aren't dead- all attention goes to the NX at that point.

If it plays my Wii U titles, I'll jump on the bandwagon, if not - I'd be hard pressed to not switch to a PS4.

Did you think the first XBox or GBA were "disgusting"? Also why is it ok to have a console with a 6/7/8 year life cycle? Going too long is a-ok, but a year short is the end of the world?

Because WiiU library is super small and they make US understand its already dead even if we dont know yet

Even Xbox bad a better library, GBA too

Nintendo Land, NSMBU/L,, Lego City Undercover, Wonderfall 101, Pikmin 3, , Mario 3D Word, Donkey Kong Tropical Freze, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Super Smash Bros, Toad's Treasure Tracker, Splatoon, Yoshi Wolly World, Devils Third, Mario Maker, Xenoblade X, Project Zero 5, Star Fox, Zelda U, Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem...

Doesn't look too me like a super small.

Then you surely had not a lot of consoles , its super small compared to most home consoles, even nall thé Nintendo ones since 64 swhich had much more excellent exclusives

I had few consoles, and GameCube line of exclusives don't look better to me. Do you think GameCube had super small library too!?

honestly, this is sounding more and more like a portable device to me
