Yet they dont spend it nor do they take the risks, funny.

You are reaching deep for the most sad pro xbox idealisms, but but money they have money.  You know like most on here MS is not going to waste money.  This is a business and xbox has not been a good one.  Their share holkders have already called for xboxs end.   And nadella is no console supporter.  Brining up their money is the last line of a losing argument, should have not stooped so low.  I cant take you seriously no more.

I have to say it is funny seeing the pro ms guys defend xbox yet argue pro closing the pc/xbox gap where the fact remains that action is the begining of x1s death.  Theres some fuuuny hypocratical spinning and thinking there.  Hearing talk like this from MS makes me want to trade in the X1 whiel i still  can get some $ out of it, seems its quick becoming a poinless product much of the doing of its own creator.

MS doesn't spend money? Relatively recently they bought Skype, Minecraft, Gears of War, fund sequels and new IPs, they also keep pushing Xbox inspite of the wishes of some stockholders.

I don't get the logic of some people, why does MS putting games on Windows make the X1 useless? They are simply giving you options. They want you playing their games anyway you want... as long as you're doing it with a MS product like WIndows or Xbox. Many console gamers aren't gonna buy a gaming PC so they also need Xbox to push those games. MS is pleasing console gamers and WIndows gamers, the average gamer is not both of those.

How many sales is X1 losing from putting games on PC? 10 million?100 million? People are getting worked about Xbox games on PC and we can't even measure what negative impact it has if any on the X1.

I highly encourage you to trade in your X1. Its still gonna be around for a while and trading it in can get in the hands of someone that will actually enjoy it. But you probably won't trade it, you'll just keep it and complain about it on forums because that's the life you've chosen.

lol this is not my life gaming and all related aspects as a whole maybe be 1%.  Now i see why you are so big on always pushing your pro xbox view, its life for you.

They them selves are taking away reasons for gamers buying an xbox, MS ceo talking like he is gives peopel doubts about xbox console as a product worth investing it.

Regular investments, not in line with you fantasy like claim of  "They have tons of money, they can take plenty of risks.'

By the looks of it, it sounds like they want to bring all their exclusives games to PC and mobile as well, making the purchase of an X1 useless.

So it looks like they gonna ditch Xbox Division

No, not at all. But given previous statements from MS, it sounds like they want to stop making Xbox consoles.

I don't think they want to stop making consoles, but they could make them optional. I imagine they might want to offer a console that can play PC games and is the target specification for all of their 1st party titles aswell as "partnered" 3rd parties (pretty similar to "steam machines", but based on Windows and with much more 1st party development teams behind it).

They could also make the cycle really short that way, like a new one all 2 years - the latest 2 ones could be directly supported (with their own optimized render paths) by the 1st/2nd parties, while older cycle consoles could try running new games with medium/minimum PC settings or sth like that, but it's ofcourse essential that all the new ones remain 100% backwards compatible.

The real world doesn't work like that.

Well tell me,  O great one how does the real world worked lol , while also explain how  to make people interested to buy Xbox one if there is no exclusive games on Xbox one.

Because most of us that buys a console does so because we prefer that way of playing games, through a dedicated gaming machine. There is a reason why Valve is looking into creating their own brand of console (albeit a failed attempts I think with the strategy they have). Gamers prefer all kinds of platforms and releasing more and more games across several platforms expands the XBox brand. Why would they then get rid of a dedicated console that sells in the millions and connects them directly to the players?

Not even sony can make it's consoles attractive to PC gamers. They are going as low as paying for games like SF V not being on xbox one, but can do nothing against PC except not porting their first party games which have been sub-par by the way. This is a really smart move from MS. It's somewhat like what people expect from nintendo's fusion, nintendo will focus on being strong with their handhelds(as MS with windows) while their home console fans can share some of it's benefits.

Sony's first-party games aren't sub-par. Some of them are incredible, some of them are good and some are bad. And they didn't quite go as low as MS, preventing Rise Of The Tomb Raider, GTA: Episodes From Liberty City from coming to other platforms for a year.

Well I wish gaming was a bigger part of my life, I would love to spend more time with my collection. Instead I'm here at work just responding to you.

MS has other products that make tons of money, I can see how that makes Xbox seem not so significant. Yet Xbox is still here and its part of WIndows 10. You focus on negative discussion about Xbox but disregard how MS still gives it a big push. I only push my pro Xbox views when guys like you are so down on it. Frankly, I'm pro Sony as well. I'm pro any company that pushes the types of games I enjoy. Look at my sig, I play a lot of Vita.

MS might turn some people off to X1 by putting their games on WIndows. But will it be a significant amount? Will it even be a million people? I don't think there are significant number of people that are console gamers and PC gamers. Which is why Sony is fine with having some of its major exclusives on PC as well. Sony even sold its online gaming studio because that audience wasn't worth much on Playstation consoles.

Investments can be made back. Look at the 360, it lost billions early on but appears to have been profitable. I doubt PS3 ever made a profit because they took some bad risks. I don't think the X1 is bleeding money like PS360 did, so it can still be a financially worthwhile endeavor. I bet Sony would have supported Vita better if it was selling like X1, am I right?

You call it great times, i call it the end of the Xbox console. If their exclusive software keeps going to PC and mobiles, there will be no reason to get an Xbox home console.

The real world doesn't work like that.

Oh yes, it does. Think people are going to buy multiple devices that do the same thing?

Who is going to buy it if as you mention the Steambox does it? What makes you think that in a few years you wont just be able to stream the game on your ipad? Or just through your TV? If you dont need the box anymore, why would you buy it? Keep in mind that there is such a thing as competition aswell. Why would the consumer get an Xbox instead of a Playstation with the same games + exclusives they can only play in it?

I may also add that most Xbox exclusives are shooters and fit the PC quite nicely.

Thats what the real world would tell you.

Well I can't disagree with any of your arguments.

The $499 had Kinect with it but the $349 one comes with a free game in most places (MCC or AC Unity).

Its worth a lot but it hardly makes a profit. If I was a big shareholder, I'd want Microsoft to stop making consoles. They can continue making games but should stopping making hardware.

As far as I'm aware the X1, PS4, and WIi U come with games. I can get a PS4 right now for $399 with Batman:AK. Before that PS4 came with Last of Us. People mock X1 for throwing free games in, but free games with a PS4 seems to be ignored.

Xbox doesn't make a significant profit on its own. But you have to also consider the audience it has brought to MS and services MS has pushed on them. The reason people use MS's streaming video and music services is because of Xbox. Fans of Xbox are probably more likely to buy other MS products as well. The Xbox brand has made millions and millions of people care about MS products.

People consider X1 a failure yet it still may sell more units than a SNES (that was a popular machine, right?). Their investments in the Xbox brand don't just die with the consoles, MS can push those IPs on other products like Windows, mobile devices, Hololens, etc. So again, Xbox has been a worthwhile endeavor.

Why should MS stop making hardware? They have tons of money, they can take plenty of risks. I say MS should keep closing the gap of what is a game console versus PC. Bringing WIndows 10 to X1 is more of that.

Also, the industry doesn't benefit from MS leaving console gaming. An industry with only Sony pushing a core console is boring. More importantly, there wouldn't be much incentive for Sony to stay competitive. Prices would be higher, less money invested in IPs, less free games, etc. PS3 is what happened when Sony wasn't afraid of competition. X1 changed for the better because of competition.

Nail on head.

Two generations ago i had Xbox,ps2 and gamecube.last gen just a 360 and this gen just an Xbox one.

the difference being im now solely microsoft across all my devices.not just my console.

So from being initallly just an xbox owner, i now have Xbox 360,Xbox One,Windows Phone , (Nokia Lumia 920 ,waiting for the next flagship)Surface tablet,Microsoft Band and a laptop patientently waiting to upgrade to Windows 10.I'm well and truly in the Microsoft ecosystem. This is why Microsoft shouldnt and won't drop xbox ...without xbox i wouldnt have been opened to the microsoft ecosytem.(think i got windows phone intitally just to get extra achievements)

So i for one do not want Microsoft to stop making hardware devices....and things are only going to get better with windows 10.

For those saying Xbox doesnt make Microsoft the biggest profits...its more than just profits, its a gateway to all things Microsoft.

If they can make Windows 10 the killer it looks like its going to be, then everyone else better get prepared to be left in the dust.No company is the position that Microsoft is right now..

The CEO of Microsoft talks about important gaming and Xbox is to Microsoft and VGChartz never fails to disappoint as relentless people here just talk about how that is somehow 'bad' for Xbox. He is the frigin' CEO of the company and he says it's important. Can't really get any bigger than that. Plus, it's still selling better than the Xbox 360 at the same time.

But hey, I'm sure their some people saying that the recent US Supreme Court ruling affirming that Same Sex Marriage is guaranteed by the US Constitution, supported by the President, and they even change the White House to the Rainbow House to celebrate is somehow bad for gay and lesbian families.

Sure it's desperate illogical spin, but hey this is Faux News /VGChartz after all.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
