Couldn't be helped, without any 3rd party support I'd say they did a fine job on the numbers of games released.

Its NINTENDO S CONSOLE!  It is THEIR responsibilty, ther BUSINESS to make sure they ahve games for their console-  If they cca t provide enough games and timely games on thier own, they they need to do what it takes to get enough 3rd party suport or they will continue having console disaters lke the Wii U and wll contiue losing market share, money and loyal fans  like the have been the last several years

3Rd parties are not obilgated to treat Nintendo like a charity-

lol you're such a hater.

and 3rd parties are obligated to do their job if they want money.

/a hater ?  are you 6?  Yes they are obligated to try and make money,  and that is precisly why they did not release games on the WiI U and why I said they did not owe Nintendo charity-  I wish they had as the wii u is the only home console we have in our household  (in addition to a wii)   However why would 3rd parties support a console that Nintendo barely supported and clearly did not ahve faith in themselves

Think Ubisoft (who supported the Wii u better tthan Nintendo IMO the 1st year +/- ) quit releasing  games for the Wii u becasue they were making money?

If I can get around a year more out of my Wii U after the NX comes out, then I'll be fine.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Iwata spelled 3DS wrong.

NES 7yrs. SNES 6yrs. N64 5yrs. GCN 5yrs. Wii 6yrs.

There is one side of me that says: Nintendo tends to have a proper reveal for their consoles a year and a half before their release. (Wii/Revolution shown off in E3 2005, released holiday 2006. Wii U shown off E3 2011, released holiday 2012.) So going from their E3 track record, I'd say we'd get tech demos and an idea of what the console is at next E3 and at E3 2017 we will get to see the games, price and release date. Which will give the Wii U a 5 yr generation length.

But another side of me says: Iwata seems to be hinting that he wants to release the console as soon as he announces it. He doesn't want competition to steal their ideas in the interim, and he says they will keep making Wii U and 3DS titles after the NX's release. So he could be announcing it for a release in 2016 giving the Wii U a shorter 4 yr lifespan.

But still, that's a year and a half away, and with Starfox, Zelda, Fatal Frame, Devil's Third, further Smash DLC and more hidden titles for next year, I'll be fairly happy with the content released for the console. I just wish that a majority of my back catalogue weren't side scrolling platformers though...

they did not release games on wii u because they are umprofessional. the majority never released a single game.

"However why would 3rd parties support a console that Nintendo barely supported and clearly did not ahve faith in themselves"

lol at nintendo "barely supporting" the wii u and "not having faith in it".

"Think Ubisoft (who supported the Wii u better tthan Nintendo IMO the 1st year +/- ) quit releasing  games for the Wii u becasue they were making money?"

Ubisoft didn't support the wii u better than nintendo in any period of time, it was half assed support. they quit releasing games because they are umprofessional, especially after the bullshit of delaying a finished rayman so that other platforms would get it at the same time and one year later, delaying watch dogs on wii u so that other platforms could get it one month earlier. that's self sabotage. ubisoft had one good exclusive in zombi U and two decent ports in AC 3 and splinter's cell, wich still sold decently.

now a question for you: the wii u was at 4 million sold when it got the last relevant multiplatform release (that was in late 2013). the installed base more than doubled since then, so don't you think it makes far more sense to support it now more than ever? Bear in mind that many of the launch ports are legging out to 300-400k lifetime without digital. similar games released in 2014 and later would have much better numbers.

3ds was revealed less than a year before release. I don't particularly think they will announce nx in 2016 to release it on the same year, just noting that previous announcements mean nothing. after all, there's a different historical context whenever a new console is revealed.

Showing an electronics product 1 1/2 years before release is becoming out dated anyway. The Apple method of revealing a product and having it available to consumers soon after is becoming much more commonplace.

No one wants to hear like "iPhone 7, look at all the awesome features it has ... coming to your pocket 18 months from now". That's such a buzz kill.

PS4 was unveiled in Feburary 2013 and released in November 2013. XBox One in May 2013 and released November 2013.

I think Nintendo is going to change this too, they certainly are starting to become more aware of not announcing things earlier than they have to.

Back in the day, Nintendo used to reveal products waaaaaaaaaay earlier, the N64 was announced in October 1993 ... the Super NES was barely two years old at the time in the West, lol. You can't do stuff like that anymore, it just doesn't work.

Besides Nintendo themselves have had under 1 year turn arounds too ... Nintendo announced 3DS in March 2010 and it was releaed in Februrary 2011. They announced/revealed Nintendo DS at E3 2004 and had it on storeshelves five months later.

Nintendo could've satisfied me by releasing a new Zelda game by now... They haven't delivered... It will be interesting how Nintendo will support their new system, when they've shown that they're incapable of supporting the Wii U.

They showed good support for Wii U till this year, next year is still mystery, even with no new announcements I am happy Wii U owner. I woudnt be so happy whithout Zelda, but we know is coming next year.

The games are good, but there's hardly enough of them. It's the  ultimate drought console.
