Forums - Nintendo - Iwata: We are prioritizing satisfying customers who purchased the Wii U

This doesn't ring true - significant software support for the Wii was all but cut off two years before the WiiU's release (what was shown for the Wii at E3s 2011 and 2012 other than Skyward Sword?), and that had an install-base far more conducive to releasing profitable games. Nintendo's statements often suggest one thing while their actions suggest another.

Only difference is that Wii had full Nintendo support for 4 years (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010), and Wii U for now have only 3 (2013. 2014, 2015), so we can expect support in 2016. year too, like Iwata said, customers can't be satisfied with only 3 years of support.

I'm really starting to think that the NX might not be significantly more powerful than the Wii U.
I think you would have to be pretty in denial to not see that the first party development for the 3DS and the Wii U is starting to slow down, evidently in preparation for the NX.
If the architecture of the NX is not significantly different from the Wii U, and the power differential isn't that great, then assets can be reused from the Wii U to the NX, allowing first party games to be made cheaper and more quickly.
Just my speculation.

They said "it will become important for us to accurately take advantage of what we have done with the Wii U architecture. It of course does not mean that we are going to use exactly the same architecture as Wii U, but we are going to create a system that can absorb the Wii U architecture adequately".

I think bigger difference in architecture will be between Wii U and NX than architecture difference between Wii and Wii U. NX have ARM or x86 architecture.

Its easy to talk when your actions show the opposite, of course they wont say " we dont are anymore about making Wii U games, the priority is NX "

Well they said that on E3 showed only games for next 6-9 months, of course we'll have some more announcement Wii U games for 2016.

They said some time ago that NX would "absorb" Wii U architecture but now Iwata says it will start from 0 - and we don't even know what he means by "absorb".

Honestly, I have no idea. I'm just hoping for good news.

The "start by 0" statement means that NX will start with 0 users, while 3DS has an installbase of 52millions and Wii U around 10 millions. It doesn't have anything to do with archs.

Start by 0 could also mean using a new architecture and going from scratch. After all they were using the PPC this whole time. I wouldn't be shocked if this meant they are using x86.

Yeah very small games like this Starfox but the real ambitious projects are already on NX, you wont get a real mario 3D , a Paper Mario, no big IP from Nintendo, just little games make you think they feed you but the lack of big announcements since more than 1 year show the reality

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Star Fox isn't very small game, you can say that isn't on pair with Zelda U or Mario 3D but you cant say that is very small game. We already have real Mario 3D, and maybe we can get Paper Mario. I don't expect new 3D Mario game or 3D Metroid, but i think all other projects are still possible on Wii U.

The hate in this thread is strong.

Yeah, I think this year can't be called bad. Star Fox, Mario Maker, Splatoon, Xenoblade...

A small game if you prefer, and no there is no réal Mario 3D ambitions like 64/Sunshine or even Galaxy, 3D world has nothing to do with a réal Mario 3D fans expected

You will be really disappointed if you think you will get any other big nintendo game announced on WiiU, they keep all that to make a big NX line up and will even likely released Zelda on NX too

Its not even small game. Why small game, because its not best looking Wii U game!? Small game is Mario Tenis or Animal Crosing Fest game, like I wrote Star Fox its not on scale with Zelda U or Mario 3D World, but certainly inst small game.

Mario 3D World isn't what fans expected, but it's very good Mario 3D game.

I wrote that I dont expect new 3D Mario game or 3D Metroid, so how exactly I can be really disappointed!?
