If the architecture of the NX is not significantly different from the Wii U, and the power differential isn't that great, then assets can be reused from the Wii U to the NX, allowing first party games to be made cheaper and more quickly. They said "it will become important for us to accurately take advantage of what we have done with the Wii U architecture. It of course does not mean that we are going to use exactly the same architecture as Wii U, but we are going to create a system that can absorb the Wii U architecture adequately".
I think bigger difference in architecture will be between Wii U and NX than architecture difference between Wii and Wii U. NX have ARM or x86 architecture.
