Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto: We're Not Interested In High End Specs (Hardware)

OMFG! This is the same dumb shit i'm talking about.

Oh, this is not good. Their philosophy sounds great and all, but they gotta deliver on that power, or else the 3rd parties are just going to pass on them again. They`ll need to strike lightning again if they are going to be successful with the NX...

You guys need to understand that powerful consoles bleed money through hardware. A very powerful console will only give Nintendo fans ammunition for console wars. Nintendo proved that they can be successful without having a powerful console with the Wii.

Matching the current consoles would be helpful for Nintendo in gaining some third party ports, unless the lack of 3rd party games goes deeper with other issues, which may be the case. There is the "how easy is to develop for NX" thing to consider as well.

If the issue is releasing an underpowered console for next generation by Nintendo (becoming soon obsolete once Micro and Sony release their next consoles) I'd say this problem Nintendo may face will be more due to their own choice of releasing too early instead of waiting a while longer when hardware will be cheaper and able to reduce cost for a more powerful console.

Where did the "Graphics don't matter" rhetoric go for Nintendo fans?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

They better don't expect huge hardware sales for NX then

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Then most third parties will continue to not being interested in developing for them. I don't understand why they just can't have both.

That left right around the time casuals ditched Nintendo for smart devices.

That is the point. Create a console thinking that you may not have huge sales but bet at something that can possibly sell it hot, like the WiiMote did.

If the strategy fails, they don't bleed money.

If they strike a home run, they sit in a mountain of money, just like they did with the Wii, by selling millions of units of a low cost console.

They don't need to make it the most powerful, but they should give their console comparable specs to the PS4 and X1. Perhaps something inbetween X1 and PS4's power would work for Nintendo.

I don't think it was the casuals who came to forums to talk about how graphics don't matter.
