Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo isn't ready for next gen.

Let's be honest, they aren't. Reasons:

1. They have absolutely no idea who they're catering to. They are beginning to dip their toes in 'mature waters' but still are obessed with the family audience that doesn't exist anymore. Proof of this is in their E3 this year where they intentionally left out games like Fatal Frame and Devil Third because it wouldn't fit with their kiddy puppet show leaving older Nintendo fans hanging.

2. They're cheap when it comes to hardware. Their main excuse for this is they use every ounce of power in their systems, which is true but really doesn't mean much if your system can't handle modern third party games.

3. Speaking of third parties reminds me of how awful their relationship with them are. They still have their old mentality from back in the day when they were king and saved the industry from crashing. Yamauchi who taught people in Nintendo like Iwata what they know openly said that third parties don't matter. Even developers came out and said that they knew little to nothing about the Wii U when it was being made and had little input, the opposite of what Sony and Microsoft did when developing their systems.

4. They're lost when it comes to HD development. This is probably one of the worst factors. This is the main reason why we had so many delays on the Wii U. They were a generation late when it came to HD development and are still struggling to this day.

5. They refuse to compete directly with their competitors. They say their competitors are doing the same thing and they're pushing creativity and doing their own thing when in reality I think they're just scared to step up to Sony and Microsoft since it's harsh competition. MS makes a robust online system, Sony steps up and create their own. Sony is pushing creative new IPs, MS does the same. I don't think Nintendo is ready that yet.

All in all I think they should ride out the Wii U completely until they fix these problems because if they don't and make all these mistakes with NX then they are pretty much permanently screwed on the console scene. Thoughts?

So much stupidity in a single thread that it hurts.

1. Bullshit, they target true gamers of all ages.

2. Bullshit. they are afordable with hardware.

3. It's not nintendo's doing that third parties are umprofessional as it can be.

4. Stupid lie. they were actually much faster than the majority of companies when making their first HD titles and they are getting faster.

5. stupid fanboy bullshit. they always compete directly.

I agree. They are commiting the same mistake SEGA did and pissing off fans/consumers in the age of the internet is a very dumb thing to do. They need to forget this NX thing and announce one more wave of software for the Wii U. They wont make much money but they will retain consumer trust going into the next cycle along with great praise. By dropping the Wii U, they lose the trust, the fandom and have no one to fall back on.
They will simply take their gamble at a casuals and atemp to strike gold again. Failing that, they got mobiles.

lol what the hell are you talking about? NINTENDO DOESN'T HAVE ANY CONSOLE ANNOUNCED. they are going to announce one next year and it might as well be the 3ds sucessor. even on the remote possibility that it's the wii u successor and releases in 2016, that's still 4 years of support for wii u. it's the same amount of time the first xbox had, but with much more games in wii u's case. and of course there's another wave of titles for 2016 that we'll hear more about later.

If I were to fully explain how stupid you are:

1. You wouldn't understand it being so blindly loyal and ignorant.

2. I would probably get banned.

I don't even have to explain how stupid you are. Your OP does it for me.

So the notes are:

Nintendo does have a new console announced. Its the NX and its beeing revealed next year.

The original Xbox didnt come off a sucessful system. Everyone expected the original Xbox to tank. Managing to have some worthwhile exclusives and penetrating the market was enough for the OG Xbox. Every other outside in the market before it failed to survive. If the OG Xbox came after the 360 it would be seen as a huge failure.
