Forums - Gaming - Star Fox Wii U (2015) hardly looks better than Star Fox Assault (2005)

It's not that Zero's graphics suck. Its that Assault's graphics are awesome.

bet: lost

You would think these guys would make the slightest attempt to know what they are talking about

Try comparing the actual Gamecube version of Assault at 480p instead of a touched up Dolphin emulation.

Lol, I said the same thing. They are comparing a gamecube game's video with graphics it never had, with a game halfway through development and saying the Wii U version only looks slightly better.

I just wonder if Reggie wrote this article. This seems like the same conclusions he'd jump to.

As someone who just finished Metroid Prime Echoes on the Gamecube at 480P, I am comfortable saying that Gamecube graphics can still be fairly impressive today. The biggest drawback are the "jagged edges" that can't be avoided at 480P.

That said, I wouldn't worry about Star Fox Zero's graphics. Miyamoto is in charge of this game and it's a well-known fact that Miyamoto likes to start with a very simplistic game where he perfects the "fun factor" and then adds in the nice graphics at the very end of the development process. These next 5 months or so is plenty of time for Platinum to add a lot of nice effects. If things are running behind, I'm also sure that Nintendo will throw an EAD team in to double down with Platinum and get this game up to par.

Agreed, I played through Echoes earlier this year, and even at 480p is still looks good a decade on from its release.

It's like saying Other M looked like this:

When really it looked like this

Or Skywards Sword looked like this:

The OP is stating SF Adventures looked like this:

Emulated visuals aside, the fact that we're comparing games that are on systems a generation apart (in terms of power), is kinda sad. If what Miyamoto said was true about it being a Wii game at first, then that explains a lot. Though, they should have started the game from scratch, no doubt the game could look MUCH better than this.

you should do some research on the topic

It's done all the time. They done a comparison of all the Uncharteds when Uncharted 4 was announced. It's to see the step forward. There is clearly a step forward in this game and it has only just been officially shown.
