People are forgetting that Nintendo was going for 2015-Early 2016 announcements for E3. There's unannounced games from beyond that point.

SMT x FE, Yoshi's Woolly World, Fast Racing Neo, Xenoblade Chronicles X and Zelda U all look like promising and ambitious games. Then there's also the prospect of Yooka-Laylee and Bloodstained to look forward to.

Super Mario Maker will also be a fun game for many people. We can also look forward to Smash and Splatoon dlc in the (near) future.

It's not great, but it's not exactly super terrible either. That's 7 new games that are coming till 2016 and one in 2017 (Bloodstained).

The Wii only had like 6 or 7 truly great games outside of all the casualware.

And uh ... yeah. Mario Kart Wii was alright but a step down from Mario Kart DS, Brawl was kind of a let down. Things like Super Paper Mario and Metroid: Other M were just flat out duds. 

Not to mention the ridiculous limitations of the Wii-era ... ugly forced muddy SD resolution (looked awful on modern TVs) and Nintendo refusing to let people use more than 512MB (incredibly stupid) for ages.

Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze

With Captain Toad, Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3 and by the end of the year you can add Super Mario Maker, Star Fox Zero, and Xenoblade X to the Wii U list.

1st/2nd party wise the Wii U is more than holding its own. Even though the Wii had more third party support, Monster Hunter 3 and GoldenEye were like the only two new games for the system from third parties I'd say were great most third party content on the Wii was just garbage. 

No, the worst time possible ever is being an American Ninty gamer and bumping into Reggie when his body is ready and he just bought a new tube of lube.

DKC: TF... Better than Returns. And Yoshi's Woolly World.

We'll see on Yoshi, but yeah DKC: Tropical Freeze is better than DKC Returns. MK8 is better than MK Wii. Smash U is better than Smash Brawl. NSMBU is better than NSMB Wii. Galaxy 1/2 beat 3D World, but by not as much as people make it out to be, 3D World is still a terrific game. 

The Wii was buoyed a lot too by repackaging GameCube games as Wii titles. Remove Zelda: TP, Super Paper Mario, and Fire Emblem from the Wii (all first Wii titles) and its first year is very barren. You have Wii Sports and Excite truck for launch, then basically nothing until Mario Party the following June and then another gap until Metroid Prime 3 the following August. 

I'd argue pretty much any console only has 6-7 truly great games.

There were heaps of other really high quality Wii offerings in my view; Donkey Kong Country Returns, Sin & Punishment 2, Monster Hunter Tri, The Last Story, Okami, Silent Hill Shattered Memories, Goldeneye 007, Kirby's Epic Yarn, World of Goo, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Little King's Story, Red Steel 2, No More Heroes 1 & 2, NSMBWii, the best version of RE4, and if you're willing to mod your system or live in PAL/Japan, Fatal Frame 2 and 4.

Looks a lot better than Kirby's Epic Yarn (which was too easy) and I'll be able to let you know in less than a week. :p

I'm personally looking more forward to SMT x FE than XBCX btw. I love the visual flair, music and animations of that game.

Er? Super NES had what ... Earthbound, Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, DKC 1 & 2, Street Fighter II, Street Fighter II Turbo, Mortal Kombat 2, Final Fantasy V & VI, Chrono Trigger, Super Metroid, Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, Super Mario Kart, Star Fox, and many others, I'd say a platform having only 6-7 really great games is on the low side. 

Especially considering the Wii had a six year cycle. 

SNES is the best console of all time and an exception to the rule. I certainly wouldn't say PS3 or 360 had more greast games than Wii, for instance. Wii U and Gamecube don't either.
