Lol, i am not even sure how i would place FF in a "best RPG IPs list", let alone take on the best franchise ever.

Link can win this with one hand on his back.

In fact he already did:

IMO, Zelda! And it is no contest at all!

I find both of these series overrated. I like Zelda better though, because FF XIII had a terrible battle system.

When people say Zelda is more consistent, what they mean is that it is more of the same. And you have to ask yourself - how can a game with combat mechanics from the pre-2000 get good scores when games like Demon's Souls exist? Just look at the combat in Skyward Sword for instance and that game came out in 2011.

And music-wise, so many memorable FF ones while LoZ has one in my opinion - Song of Storm which was copied from a better, existing song.

Because Zelda can have an uber successful symphony tour based on "one" memorable song that is "copied from a better, existing song"?

Everybody can have their own opinion, but the Zelda series has Legendary status partly due to their phenomenal soundtracks.

The thing is though, Zelda games aren`t graded nor played for the combat. It`s for everything else, like the adventure aspect, the story, the characters, the gameplay, the unique mechanics to each game, the puzzles, dungeons, and so on. It if it was based on combat alone, it would probably score pretty low.

Also, Zelda has its own fair share of good music. It`s more than just Song of Storms ; )

Zelda, Final fantasy is just a generic AAA rpg.

No, not based on one memorable song - based on nostalgia.

I think Zelda used to have "legendary" status but that was mainly because it came out at a time where competition wasn't fierce. I can't say I remember any Zelda tune or felt the need to youtube any of them after having played OoT. But opinions, right? But then again I remember the music from very few video games:

FF, of course.

Uncharted

God of War

Dragon Quest

Legend of zelda is better no doubt
