I highly doubt that someone would buy a VR headset and games for local multiplayer. It's not a nintendo peripheral. VR will be around for many years while local multiplayer is dying off. It's featured less and less in games. It's appeal is wearing off.
I just wanted to make a thread about how bad VR would make local multiplayer. It would ruin local multiplayer in my opinion. Imagine how stupid it would be with a few friends or family in the room all wearing goggles immersed in their own little "world". You can't look at someone and talk trash (that would require taking the goggles off).
Huh? Morpheus specific local multiplayer games would normally be designed to be isometric, one person has a head set and several other people have controller pads and they're given different views/roles. Whats anti about that? its a completely different experience. On top of that why do you need to look at someone to talk trash or enjoy their presence? It'd actually be hilarious for everyone, I'm sure your friends will try to advantage of you whilst wearing the headset and throw you off.
You think the price will always be the same and they will never make a price cut i never tried 3D TV but i heard that the 3D effect was bad and it's the reason why 3D TV failed
PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m Xbox One - 70m Wii U - 25m
Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise 3DS - 80m
While local multiplayer is fantastic and i'm very dissapointed Nintendo seems to be the only one that still bothers with it I don't see that as anything to do with VR.....
just don't make local multiplayer games VR? Problem solved?
The latest Morpheus and Oculus models work perfectly fine even with people who wear glasses (I do)
I bet it still adds to the weight, and thats not confy. Hate seeing 3D movies just for that reason.
polarized 3D-glasses (compatible with 3D-cinemas + LG 3D-TVs): 10 grams
polarized 3D-clip (if you already wear glasses) : 5 grams
Yeah, that's a heavy burden. ;)
Plus the weight of my glasses? I guess I have a very sensible nose.

No.... else nintendo would be the best selling console by far.
I, and a lot of people I know, care about local multiplayer. Not only are Smash bros and Mario Kart still the most played games on my Wii U for that reason (and yes, we do have get togethers to play 8-player smash), but Naruto is played very regularly on my PS3 because of multiplayer. Once friends come around, no one wants to watch someone else play a single player game. I have 2 brothers, and local co-op games are a really big thing for us.

No problem. They simply need to make vr goggles big enough to two heads.
Hilarious! Nice one.

I have a 3D TV, and the 3D is very dependent on the software, not the TV. When you watch Thor (bluray 3D movie), there's harldy any 3D. When you watch Hugo, it's magical. When you play a game that doesn't support 3D (or watch a cartoon with simple 2D sprites, like the flintsones), you can use the TV's 2D to 3D conversion mode, which will simply look like a layered version of what you were watching/playing, with a higher resolution. I played Skyward Sword this way, and the game looked better for it. When you play a game that does support 3D, the 3D is pretty good. The TV has a gaming 3D mode meant specifically for games, and that's the one I prefer for games that support 3D, but one of my brothers prefers the 2D to 3D conversion even when the game supports 3D. The point is, there are options for everybody.
There's even the option to split the screen side to side, or top to bottom, such that if you close one of yoour eyes, you see the full TV screen displaying only one half of the split screen, while if you close the other eye, you see the entire TV screen displaying only the other half of the split screen. We've never actually used it (what with one person playing on the TV and the other on the gamepad), but now that I'm typing it, I'll go test out how OK or uncomfortable I'll feel playing split screen mario kart this way. *Gets eyepatch*
