I still do not believe it will launch in 2016. I DO think they will reveal it next year, fully, and it will come out at some point in 2017. I've believed that all along. There are still several games we haven't even heard about (and some we have, like Zelda), coming to Wii U yet, and a rather robust stream of eShop titles coming. Seriously, eShop is the next best thing to Steam these days for indie gaming, just about.

And I do still have a feeling that "fusion" rumor will be true. Which is just fine with me, because 1. It means ONE console I own will get most/all of the titles 3DS/Wii U normally would separately, and 2. it means I can still game at home on my TV like I prefer to, but CAN take it on the go if I want. Sounds great to me. Make it happen.

Well, if Nintendo go all out at launch, and if I have enough money, then day 1. Imagine a Nintendo console launching with Zelda, a 2D Mario, a 3D Mario, a Mario Kart, a 2D Metroid, a 3D Metroid, an F-Zero, a Star Fox, a Super Smash Bros., Splatoon 2, a Fire Emblem, an Animal Crossing, Mother 4, a Kid Icarus, a Pokémon, a Donkey Kong, a Kirby, a Yoshi, a Wario Ware, a Punch-out, an Ice Climber, a Xenoblade, a Pikmin, a Duck Hunt, a Yokai Watch and 3 new IPs...which will never come close to happening, but it would really tempt me!

Needless to say that's physically impossible for a 2016 launch. A lot of their dev teams are still wrapping up with 3DS n Wii U. I could see a 3D Mario making it though since it'll have been a good 3 years since 3D World and I'm sure Captain Toad didn't take too much resources.

I'll throw out a general comment of fan boyism. SOME people will rule out buying their brand of choice in spite of anything. Notice how whenever there is a good anouncment on one side, the other side bands together to downplay it?

In any case I chose Never because nintendo consoles have been a poor choice for general entertainment for years now. I used to get all brands but from the wii generation, Nintendo Stopped caring about parity as the wii's games looked like Game cube games. That was the begininng  of the end in third party support. And I grow tired of Nintendo's rinse and repeat reahashing of their old games.

The same thing happened with the wii u, but it's far wose. a console that's support has been dropped in such a short time and a new one released in the middle of a generation has doom written all over it.

Even if they manage a system more powerful than the ps4 and regain the 3rd party support they were lacking, I'd consider it a dead investment. For one thing, I believe I have bought my last game console. With each generation it feels more and more of a waste to get a console over a pc.

I don't know how else to say it, but I honestly don't see it being a worthwhile investment.

That's my point though. It's far too soon to say whether it's going to be a worth while investment or not. We know nothing about it.

As for the PC thing, I actually went the complete opposite direction as you. I found keeping up with PC gaming became far more expensive than it's worth. Gotta upgrade the GPU every couple years just to be able to play the newer games reasonibly, or at all in some cases, plus upgrade the RAM. Every 5 years or so you pretty much need to rebuild a brand new gaming PC from the MOBO up. The other option is to go all out on a high end gaming system that will likely set you back 2000-3000 bucks but should have you set for quite a while. In the end I ended up spending far more on my gaming PC than I did on the games I played on it. Sure you can make a very basic gaming PC for pretty cheap, slightly more than a console, but it won't have the longivity either, then you fall into the nearly constant upgrading. That's my experience with PC gaming anyway. I was very heavy into PC gaming for the better part of 20 years, that's why I have happily fallen back to console gaming lol.

What 5 years. I've have componets going on 7 years now. And you don't need the top of the line card. I use the GTX770 for GTA V and the like.  And my system cost $1200, when new. Nowhere near that $3000. With 24GB RAM and buying the I7 when it was brand new. Yeah its slower than whats out now. But it can still play top of the line stuff.

Very possible if the wiiu games get ported and its all cross gen early on for the NX with one or two exclusives.

Whenever Zelda U launches

I've never been able to buy a console at launch. Can't afford it. Even if I could, Nintendo has disappointed most of its biggest fans, including me, in the last few years. I'll wait a year or two to see if the console and the approach rights the wrongs and corrects their mistakes, or if its just going to be another let down. I love the Wii U's library, don't get me wrong, there are already 5 Wii U exclusive games in 2015 that I want to buy, and I already have a big backlog. But the fact that the specs hinder most multiplats from being on the Wii U is a very big problem. If the Wii U had the best multiplats like Deus Ex, Batman Arkham Knight, Star Wars Battlefront, COD, Just Cause 3, Fallout4, Doom etc honestly, I may not even consider getting a PS4 or an XboxOne for a few years.
Assuming the Wii U had the multiplats, I'd probably only buy the other 2 consoles towards the end of the gen to catch up on the exclusive games which would have piled up on each system, probably complete with a re-release that contains all DLC and stuff.

My thread for teaching VGC some Nigerian slangs

For that they will need to have a SOLID stream of games coming all throughout the Holidays and in 2017. No more droughts. No more sub-par game like Nintendo Land for launch. Give me three solid games for starters. Three, no less. Three AAA 1st party games. And then make sure a big game releases every 1 or 2 months just like this Holiday of 2015.

Actually, I thought the fake XDS console was a pretty great idea. I'd have a portable console without 3D gimmicky-thingy playing full-HD games. Then I would have a support, a base I put my XDS on, so it displays on TV the same way it does with Wii U, but instead of the console streaming the image via a Gamepad it would be the portable console that streams it to TV.

So Nintendo would only have to make games for one console, I think it would solve a lot of problems. You could carry the NX everywhere without being limitated to a 8 meters-range and stream it to TV just like AppleTV to play on a big screen. Of course, controllers would be available to play once streamed on TV.

Nintendo should think about it hehe

Thankfully that wont happen, though I can definitely see Zelda U being cross gen.
