Forums - Sony - Why are people not angry about Vita?

Looks like you haven't seen the Sony conference with all the remoteplayable games on Vita.

Getting mad about the dead is mean >:(

Because the Vita has been going through this for years, so people expect it. Sony have had plenty of criticism for their treatment of the Vita in that time.

Not surprised, but disappointed. I made up my mind to never buy a Sony handheld again. Sony abandoned the Vita and that shouldn't be ignored if or when they want to make another portable system.

Eh, no one is mad or upset because what they showed for Vita (one multiplat game, indies, and a sizzle trailer) is what was expected.

There are still a lot of games releasing, but they're all from third parties.

Because the few sony fans that bought the ps vita, accepted a long time ago that the device was dead unlike nintendo fans. Also accepted that this will be the last handheld coming from Sony.

Eh, pretty sure that ship has sailed already. Getting close to no support is now expected.

moving past the snarky comments....

...because i've seen vita's sales and i completely understand why sony isn't investing in the platform. it's a money sink for AAA development. yes it sucks but it is too be expected. as an early adopter of the system i knew this outcome was possible. sony has done a good job at getting indies and downloadables to be cross platform (ps4/vita) and just don't expect any more with such a failure of a system.

even still, i'm pretty happy with my vita. the AAA "console like" games just didn't feel good on vita. they always felt like they would have been better on ps4. the indies just feel better on the small screen and so long as the stream of indies keep landing on the platform,.. so long as i get my free 2 games per month,.. i'm going to be happy enough. i have soo many games for it via ps+ that that is now how i look at vita: my free games machine.

in summary: consoles carry larger expectations than handhelds.

I am not a handheld guy. Wish for Sony to focus on consoles.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=221391&page=1

Since this is a thread actively inviting comparisons between Vita fans expectations of E3 and WiiU fans expectations of E3, I'll post my observations:

- Vita fans have been burned by E3 2012; E3 2013 and E3 2014. Lesson learnt, somewhere within there. WiiU fans had a comparatively good E3 last year.

- Vita is being supported in the west by indies and localization houses. WiiU is being supported by Nintendo. Indies and localization houses do not have press conferences (or otherwise) at E3. Nintendo do.

- E3 is about spectacle. Spectacle on a handheld is difficult to convey. Less difficult on a home console.

- E3 is an American event. USA is one of the stronger (comparatively) markets for WiiU. Vita is dead in the USA.

- Nintendo seem to keep danging carrots in front of WiiU fans i.e. "here's Zelda! ... at least 2 years from launch". Sony have been frustratingly honest about their intent with Vita i.e. "no more AAA games".

I'd imagine for the majority of Vita fans, a combination of the first and last bullet points are why no-one is bothered at this point.

I think pretty much everyone is fully accepting that Vita's crap sales have had a role to play in what support it will get going forward.  For some reason, Nintendo fans couldn't (until this E3 apparently) see what WiiU's crap sales (aside from Amiibo figures) have done to it.
