Forums - Sony - GOW:COO Bombs + PSP Sales DECREASE----WTF?

Galaki said:
Yeah, everyone pirate PSP games. Nobody pirate DS games. That must be the truth because PSP softwares aren't selling as well.

The correlation is also directly pointing at my gaming habit. I've been playing on my DS more often due to the PSP not selling as well. Therefore, lower sales on PSP is causing me to play on my DS.

Maybe you don't believe it,but it's true that piracy do more damage to the PSP than the DS,here in my country (Mexico) the most of gamers buy piracy software. I know 4 persons with PSP (myself included) and 9 with DS,and at the PSP side I'm the only one that buy only original software,the other three download illegal rooms and never buy games. At DS side 6 of the 9 owners I know buy only original software,Ithe other 3 buy both (original and piracy) take in account the strong bad piracy culture in Mexico.

I'm sorry Darth, but you are looking a little "Crazzy" right now, with all the caps and whatnot.

"In before the piracy excuse."

Yeah I went there.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

it's because of the piracy - u can get almost any PSP game online - just download it on some sites and it's free - who can refuse that?

You can do the same thing with the Wii, DS, Ps2, etc. 150,000 is good, people. It's more than the total PSP sales most weeks.

I think the problem here is that this is yet another home console game made to play on a portable platform. That is just not the type of thinking that appeals to many portable owners.

Yeah, that's probably why Mario Kart didn't do well. GTA did alright, too. The greatness of this PSP game is that it plays like a PS2 game but you can play it anywhere. A lot of people (150,000 so far) llike that. Unlike FPS games, GoW does not require 2 analogs so it plays perfectly (and arguably better since to dodge you had to take your thumb off of the face buttons hen plying on PS2...I hope they carry that over to PS3's GoW3). But hey, any opening to attack the PSP, right?

Easy Explanation. All GOWBoys already bought GOW and PSP.

QED.

It did about even with my expectations. Seriously, most PSP games have done way worse, so this is a victory in a lot of ways. Handheld games don't always generate insane first day sales unless you are in Japan or unless it is a Pokemon game. That is just the way the handheld market is.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

@bod

I dunno how 1 million is possible if like all PSP games it has no legs, unless it does a "monster hunter" in terms of legs...

As far as I was aware this was the biggest PSP game ever or something like that yet the hardware didn;t increase....

just saying if such a thing happened when MGs4 released and people said PS3 always served the MGs demographic it wouldn't be very convincing

@DmeisterJ

I always write in caps, I got banned on AV forums because of that..

 Are you fucking serious ? Common , what where you expecting ? 400k ... this game will probably do 2million + worldwide with bundles , and it bombed ? PSP is dead software wise ? WTF ?!?!?!?! Everyone knew Army of Two will be big , and the predictions for CoO where nearly spot on . So why did it bombed . And lets not even mention that the game was out for only 3 days ...

Sorry if someone already said this, I don't have time to read all the responses unfortunately, but couldn't it be that PSP hardware didn't increase because people are waiting for the bundle? I'm not saying that that would explain why they DROPPED, but it could explain why software wasn't as high as some people might have thought. and yes, illegal downloads probably hurt some too.

 Thank you . This guy is proof that inteligence still exists on the site :D Man I would want that red PSP :D

I think I'd also like to chime in that this game ISN'T of the casual orient, and it is a MATURE title. All things considering I think it's done pretty damn well for a PSP title :P I just picked up my copy yesterday ^^ I predict at LEAST 500k units sold, I'm going to put upward of a mil. With the bundling it could get quite the boost :) Which would also boost recognition for the PS3 version ;)

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

Seriously ... what where people expecting ? Sales are excelent , thsi numbers didnt happen for the PSP for nearly 2.5 years in the US ... Man , Im so happy when a killer game is doing great :D
