Forums - Sony Discussion - GOW:COO Bombs + PSP Sales DECREASE----WTF?

I used to always criticize FishyJoe for writing things like that every week about PSP, but now I shall do that no longer

Will they even Recoup Costs for GOW...because to my knowledge it sells BEST in USA..not in EU or JAP

FF7 made up its costs through Japan alone

Wait, how did GoWar bomb? It will reach about 1 million worldwide in its lifetimebased on this, which is perfectly in line with expectations.

What's the deal? Hardware is another issue -- sales should have increased -- but the game sold just fine.

I'm sorry Darth, but you are looking a little "Crazzy" right now, with all the caps and whatnot.

Over 200k in one website of downloads, this explains everything.

@bod

I dunno how 1 million is possible if like all PSP games it has no legs, unless it does a "monster hunter" in terms of legs...

As far as I was aware this was the biggest PSP game ever or something like that yet the hardware didn;t increase....

just saying if such a thing happened when MGs4 released and people said PS3 always served the MGs demographic it wouldn't be very convincing

@DmeisterJ

I always write in caps, I got banned on AV forums because of that..

For some perspective:

The last God of War game sold less than 2 million worldwide on an install base of almost 120 million. Even being generous and assuming some of that userbase was no longer active, or many were replacement units, etc, the PS2 had at least 3x the user base that the PSP currently has.

Why should it be shocking that this new GoW will struggle to hit a million worldwide? It's not an especially popular series.

 1 million is possible -- God of War sells in Europe too. Chains of Olympus will be around 350k just from American/EU first week.

I think GOW result is ok. It's very close to first week of best-selling PSP game to date: GTA Liberty City Stories (which sold 162k first week in USA).

Well if you look at the percentage differences in sales form last week, the PSP has by far the smallest decrease. A 7% decrease for PSP, the next smallest decrease was the PS3 with 20%. I just think it was a really really bad week for hardware sales. Maybe something to do with the American economy at the moment. Maybe some people are waiting for the special edition God of War PSP.
