And thus, the Wii U will be solidified as an abject failure. It will not be missed With Zelda definitely being an NX title, I'll be passing on the Wii U. It's obvious from this years E3 that they're pushing all of their major releases back for the NX, anyway.

Hopefully they've learned something from this whole disastrous experience.

Then you've missed on many amazing Nintendo and few exclusive 3rd party games. A profitable console is not an 'abject failure'. It is simply not a mass market success, but does contain an excellent experience and array of quality titles.

To be honest, not many of Nintendo's Wii u titles look all that exciting to me., I can't see any substantial improvement over their Wii prequels. I'm sure they're quality titles, but nonw are must haves.

There are pretty much four Wii u titles that I feel I absolutely HAVE to play: Splatoon, Xenoblade X, Smash, and Zelda. Xenoblade and Zelda are most likely going to be ported to NX, and for Smash, I'll just have to live with the 3ds version. Splatoon seems to be selling quite well, which means well likely see a sequel in a few years time anyway.

If I could use just one word to describe the Wii U, it would be "stagnation." As an observer, not a user, I see Nintendo continuing to pander to the long gone casual audience from the Wii, releasing retro style titles to please their long time fanbase, and putting out what are essentially HD expansion packs of their last gen games. Hardly any new or innovative titles like those that defined the GameCube and Wii. It could be that my opinion would change if I actually get the system, but I'll never find out.

Not unless, of course, the NX has BC.

Nintendo needs to release NX same year as the competition.

Your way of thinking is the worst, srry.

That argument doesn't make any sense.

WiiU is already well behind their competition in terms of power and developer support. Leaving it to trickle on for the next few years would not be a smart business move and only result in continued brand irrelavency.

Putting out a new gaming platform in 2016 is actually a smart business move for Nintendo.

releasing a console in the mid of a generation doesnt make sense. that basically means they have to do catch up which is the worst case scenario if you want to sell something.. i dont see 3rd party support either if they do what you propose also the lifespan of NX will be very short because new consoles from microsoft and sony are on the horizon. releasing a consoles ahead of the competition didnt do good for nintendo (Wii U)

logical step: do it from scratch. do it when it actually matters same way as they did with Wii.

Not only did I call that the NX would release in 2016, but I called it before the NX was even announced.

Yeah, show me the quality Paper Mario, Fire Emblem and Metroid. And waiting for Zelda 4-5 years is stupid.

Metroid has skipped consoles before

Paper Mario ... idk i guess different peeps different tastes but its move to portable seems good enough to me

Fire Emblem game was just announced at E3.

and Zelda always takes that long, in fact each iteration seems to take longer. This will be like TP and hit end gen/new gen.

Just came in to reiterate that I've been saying this since January of 2014, well before this became popular.

Metroid has skipped consoles before - No excuse

Paper Mario ... idk i guess different peeps different tastes but its move to portable seems good enough to me - Not good for someone like me

Fire Emblem game was just announced at E3. - No. it wasn't. It was before but that's not a traditional FE. The other one is for 3DS.

and Zelda always takes that long, in fact each iteration seems to take longer. This will be like TP and hit end gen/new gen. - No excuse

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

ugh you whiners are whiners.

So many awesome WiiU games but ... oh noes its going to be replaced in 4 years!!!! lol

GameCube didn't have a proper 2D Mario, not even a proper 3D Mario (I didn't wait 8 years from Mario 64 to play a freaking buggy "Mario on Vacation" game), an underwhelming Mario Kart, and truth be told Pikmin was overrated.

Splatoon is the real deal as being the next great Nintendo franchise, Pikmin never was that.

People don't realize either but Nintendo basically gave up on the GameCube for the last two years of its life cycle.

Between November 2004 and November 2006, the only GameCube game Nintendo bothered with from any of their main teams (EAD, Retro, NST, etc.) was Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, a freaking bongo drum platformer.

Everything else were farmed out projects like Mario Strikes (Next Level), Donkey Konga (Namco), Mario Baseball (Namco), Mario Party (Hudson), Battallion Wars (Kuju).

Sadly yes, reveal at E3, release scheduled for november, and sadly people will buy it forgetting WiiU

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

yeeeeeeaaaaah no. i'm still convinced that the nx is coming holiday 2017. I just don't see an entire console being sprung on us in the matter of 1 year. And lets be real. Consoles take a lot of time to develop. I just don't think the nx will be ready that soon.
