Good thing for PS3 is that its sales keep growing in a trditionally "slow"month...last february it only did 131K...and there could be doubts about january sales as they are usually above average. This is looking good for Sony.

The ps3 did have a pice drop, but it wasn't that much. I agree, it helped, but that's not the sole reason for the ps3's upswing IMO.
Early 2007:
60 GB: $600
20 GB: $500
(20 GB was soon to be discontinued)
Early 2008:
80 GB: $500
40 GB: $400
In my opinion, I don't think a $100 price drop is the only reason for a 200% increase in ps3 sales. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just think there is much more to the increase in ps3 sales than the price drop in 07.

It will be interesting to see the April numbers for sure. May 13 or whenever the April numbers come out will tell a lot more about where this is headed. I think the PS3 software numbers do indicate a lot of Blu-Ray intensive buyers. It's curious that the PS3 software numbers aren't bigger. Who buys consoles without games? I can't quite wrap my head around that. The most impressive number here is PS2. If you look at PSP/PS2/Wii/DS it shows that price is a huge factor. The industry's doing well, but the U.S. economy sucks. The gameheads will still buy stuff, but the masses will go for the cheaper stuff. Price cuts may play a big role in this yet, it seems. |
Only the last week of April will be that interesting from a GTA IV perspective. The month is practically over when GTA comes out and most of its' effect on hardware might not be seen until May. Of course, this depends on which weeks are counted by NPD for their April.

Nice. Nintendo dominates once again.

VGChartz North America: The difference is quite big compared to NPD with regard DMC4 360 sales, IMO NPD's figures bodes well for GTA IV on the PS3 for later this year.

Wow vgchartz is way off on this one, for both of them, but especially for the 360.

I think Rock Band is likely eating into the 360's Guitar Hero 3 sales.
| Legend11 said: Yeah it's so amazing that the PS3 version of Devil May Cry 4 is only slightly under the 360's sales... Of course the 360 had 5 games in the top 10 while the PS3 had 1, do you think that might have had something to do with it? |
No because the 360 has what? 2.5, 3 times the PS3 userbase in N. A.? So that's expected IMHO.
| mrstickball said: leo-J: If anything, that proves that the PS3 userbase consists of hardcore users that bought PS2s, and loved the DMC series, and other PS2 offerings, whereas the X360 userbase isn't consisting of PS2 fanboys. Still, the fact is, the X360 version sold better, despite no brand regognition of the product whatsoever. What if FF13 sold better on the X360 in the same manner? What would that prove to you? |

2.63, according to VGC. The DMC advantage is only 1.26:1.
