They are pulling a saturn here

That's exactly what this reminds me of, and we all know what a crippling blow that was to consumer faith in Sega.

How many people will buy a console from a company who only supported their last one for 3 years?

I don't think they are going to end in a tragic way like Sega. At least not after this gen.

The problem is the management and the fact that the fanbase in general has been applauding rather than complaining and pointing their errors. They could be the greatest but rather many fans goes in a rush to buy mediocre games and force themselves to like it just because that's what Nintendo pulled.

This is a very interesting topic, because as similar as the Wii U sales are to the ones of the GameCube, at this point the fanbase was happier with announcement like Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, Metroid Prime 2 Echoes, a better looking Star Fox and the Zelda Twilight Princess reveal.

And 2015 is NES 30TH anniversary! Nintendo brought video games BACK after 1983 CRASH with casualties like ATARI especially, Intellivision, and Colecovision (which could have held on if not for its ADAM computer fiasco!) And Flashback systems were made for all 3 of those systems in 2014! When will there be a Nintendo Flashback- NES and SNES at least?

I'm sorry, but most of you guys need to grow up.

Are video games really that big of a deal? Maybe is because I'm getting older, but I honestly didn't care much when Nintendo (my favorite company) made the direct, disappointed yes, but is not like I want to set my Wii U on fire, or hate on the company.

I bought a Wii U because it had games I wanted to play (Smash, MK8, Bayonetta, DKC: TF, Zelda: WW HD), not because of games I hope I would play in the future. That of course doesn't mean I don't want or hope for those games, but I knew what I was getting into when I bought the console, and there always existed a risk of those games not coming out, this is something you people need to understand.

When the NX comes out, I will buy it when there are games I want to play, not because of games I hope they announce at some point. This should apply to every console out there, not just Nintendo.

Video games are starting to become like a Religion or a Political Party, it's starting to consume people (talking metaphorically of course).

It's their lifes and they can choose to do want they want, act how they want, and buy what they want. So can you. If a company pisses me off I have a right to drop them. Only an idiot wouldn't.

It doesn't matter if they sell me bread, a washing machine or a games console.

I bought my Wii U on a promise that never materialised.  Therefore if I choosed to be pissed and become vocal about never buying Nintendo products again what the hell is so childish about that?

Yes, I agree that some people do take this gaming shit too far. They become nasty, hateful and bitter towards each other in exchanges on forums. They are the ones that need to grow up.

Nintendo is still a great game publisher.

But yeah lets be honest ... they've mismanaged their console division to the point of market irrelevance.

They have no third party support. The "poor" third party support of the N64 and GameCube days seems quaint and nice today.

They are predictably unable to release games on time and as one publisher they can't support a platform all on their own. Without Western development partners (who are free to actually make Western style games, not just Nintendo franchise spin-offs) their library does leave a lot to be desired in terms of variety.

They will always have a kids-first focus, which rubs some the wrong way as they get older. I mean y'know I can kinda see the logic in that Next Level Metroid spin-off, but I can also see why people are angry about it.

I think they will basically need a miracle with the NX (as in some kind of break out blockbuster ala Pokemon or Wii Sports) and I'm not sure they have one up their sleeves.

The one thing I could say about Iwata was "well at least he's not getting Nintendo into making smartphone games", but even that he's caved on. And some of the decision making with amiibo and DLC is starting to creep into a territory of locking away content that's start to disturb me a little bit. MK8 was OK, but the new Smash DLC is quite pricey and content being locked behind Amiibo is starting to become more common. That and finding the damn Amiibos is a total gong show.

Still I love their games, so what can I do.

Everyone really is blowing this out of proportion jesus christ.

This, pretty much.  You guys are still fresh off of the disappointment, so that's likely why you feel so strongly about it right now.

Truly. A white knight has gone rogue.

So long, curl 6.

I'm not dead yet, though I accept with great sorrow that I may need to be removed from Dengle's sig.

I wanted so badly to keep loving Nintendo, but it's like loving a drug addict, no matter how much you defend them, they'll always let you down, and in the end, your love can't fix them.

You are supposed to help a drug addict with his problem. That is if you really love them... otherwise you give up on them. You never really loved Nintendo did you...? Traitor.

It depends for me. How will we know whether or not the NX will be a success? It could have the exact same problems as the Wii U, with another replacement only years after the previous one.

Your right-  I def will wait till most or all of the games i expect/want are released on the next Nintendo platform before purchasing it (If i purchase it at all which i may not)

I bought the Wii U at launch and I have been disapointed in the effort, sincerety and honesty (towards its customers) fom Nintendo since early in the wii U  s life  cycle

It's taken a lot to overcome my deeply rooted attachment to them, but the last four years have gradually eroded my tolerance for their bullshit.

I've been on the brink for the past few months, and now I can say with certainty that while I'll ride out the Wii U and squeeze as much out of it as I can, I will not be buying NX, or any future platform of theirs.

Sorry Iwata, your princess is in another castle.

Their handhelds are still good though.. just their consoles lack games cause of slow 1st party and ZERO 3rd party

I agree. It's the Nintendo management monkeys that needs to be replaced as soon as possible.
