I will hold onto hope that I don't have to buy a ps4 for the game. there has been no rock solid announcement on full on exclusivity. certainly will start out ps4-pc as the kick starter was selling only copies for those platforms, but you have to pay attention in these things.

These companies brag openly about their deals when it's never being ported to another console.

He would have said something stronger than "we're definitely going to be a partner" if it was more to it.

While it is possible, Sony would be pretty generous funding and developing Shenmue III, only to let it be released on the competition. If it weren't for Sony the game wouldn't even exist.

I agree, but apparently development hasn't even began, so it will take a long time before we see the game, SO I'll just hold off on getting a ps4 until they come out and say it's never gonna hit my bone.

^Yes that's me ripping it up in the GIF. :)

The next stretch goal has been funded. Now the Spanish speakers can enjoy the game! However, I wonder how much this announcement will slow the amount being backed.

This whole affair has been wholly unethical. Kickstarter was not designed to be abused in this fashion, and I won't be buying the game now. Comments from the Kickstarter page indicate that a lot of the backers were hoping for stretch goals that would add support for future consoles.

If it weren't for the backers, Sony wouldn't have funded the game... There is something deeply unsettling about all of this.

You're joking, right? I don't mean to be inflammatory, but Kickstarter was meant to back projects that couldn't otherwise recieve funding.

People put their hard-earned money down on a game project that was ultimately market testing by Sony. That sounds an awful lot like fruad to me.

EDIT: Just to be clear, I am a big fan of the first two Shenmue games, and was considering becoming a backer of this project.

Wasn't the whole point of kickstarter to find funding for games or projects? Isn't shenmue being made because it was funded through kickstarter? Ok then.

When you create a Kickstarter campaign, you are required to disclose all details of your business proposition. Withholding the fact that Sony was secretly publishing the game is unethical.
