Forums - Nintendo - Why Starfox Zero's graphics are bad

One of the stages looks decent, the other, less so. The enemies are definitely very low poly and some of the texture work is a throw back from its prototype days. I'm curious to see how much polish it gets before release, but they don't have a whole lot of time.

I must say though, I'm a little more interested now that I've watched the Treehouse footage, than I was after the Direct footage.

How does this level compare to the Corneria level?

It looks better, they did a more detailed job with the sand specifically. The enemy ships models are still mediocre and the destruction isn't on par with 2012 games (again, Twisted Metal). It looks like a 2009 game instead of a 2006 one, so it's an improvement.

So are you still convinced the Corneria level (the one you call a 2006 game) won't be touched up at all, as if the footage you saw in the Digital Event is what the stage will look like when the game is shipped out to retail?

There's zero proof that it will be, so it only makes sense to assume what we got is what we'll get.

Is Nintendo for real? ZR to fire lasers?

The games use the right stick, though I forgot what for exactly. But why is that a problem?

No, there is proof: every other Nintendo game ever. History tells me that Nintendo wouldn't fart out a game that has such a drastic difference in quality of production between different levels of the same game.

Also, I always hate it when  people use the retarded "There's zero proof that __ is  happening, therefore it can't be true" logic. Do you have proof that it won't be? No, you don't? Then it makes plenty of sense to assume what we saw isn't all that we'll get. Again, see Super Mario 3D World E3 2013 reveal as an example.

That's not my logic, I never said there's no chance of an upgrade, only that it makes more sense to take what is physicallly there as true instead of what you hope will be there.

3D World didn't change from E3 to release, nor has any recent game revealed so close to launch that I can recall.

glad I'm not the only one noticing that. When I started the Direct, I didn't quite get the beginning and I found myself in the middle of Star Fox and was honestly not sure if this was WiiU footage, because it really looked a lot like last gen. Worst Nintendo art direction in years.

Maybe cos it's not Nintendo art direction. Platinum are handling the art side of things.

Looks like they decided to base the asthetics on Lylat Wars/Starfox 64. It's not what I was hoping for from the game, as I was kind of hoping for some spectacular reimagination of the franchise pushing the Wii U to to's limits with some open universe structure between missions.

But I'll remain open minded as the core mechanics are still fun. Really enjoyed replaying StarFox 64 on the 3DS.

What's physically there are other games. That's my proof. Pikmin 3 began as a Wii project, like this latest Star Fox. I've never heard anyone say the portions of the game that were originally produced on Wii are like night and day compared to the portions built from the ground up for Wii U. You and torok can try and bill me as crazy all you want, but my proof is not in "They wouldn't show us anyting other than the final game!" or "There's no proof." My proof is in Nintendo's track record with every other game.

For all we know, the Corneria level in that DE trailer could have been the exact same build that was only shown to a select few journalists at last year's E3. You're telling me that I shouldn't make assumptions when I have yet to see anyone offer me anything more than their own baseless assumptions as well.

You can asume whatever you want. I just don't get why everyone is so hellbent on trying to get me to join the jerking of the circle for having my own assumptions.

Where the f.... in the history of this thread does statistics have anything to do with the topic at hand? Definitely not in your post. I didn't say statistics, I said track record. Sorry, but reading comprehension is not on your side.

Like I said in the post above, I think the Corneria level in the Digital Event is from the build that was only shown behind closed doors at E3 '14. Is my theory a  bit silly? Yeah, but it's no more ludicrous than, "You have zero proof, so you can't assume anything." Because we should only talk about things that we have concrete evidence of. You know what we don't have concrete evidence of? This game's release date. Wait, isn't that the very thing I was asking in the first place?

EDIT: After I thought about it afterward, I realized you probably weren't trying to put me down. If that is the case, then I'm sorry for the personal attack. I couldn't care less about getting moderated, but I don't want to diss someone who wasn't trying to disrepect me in the first place.
