They don't need it yet, but in the near future they could decide between supporting sales with big releases and a lot of bundles or cut price already. If the first strategy is feasible, it should be preferred, while the first price cut, delayed to Q4 2016, could be bigger and more effective than $50. The best possible thing for Sony would be to be able to do the first cut at PS4 Slim launch. Right now they've been able to cut power consumption and weight by ~10%, but they'll need a die shrink of the APU to be able to make a Slim model, so major redesign schedule depends a lot on AMD.

they actually have no big releases of exclusives just partnerships which should help PS4 big time this holiday and a coming $50 price-cut in September or October

PS4 is in a dominant position and have big games in 2016-2017 so they don't need to wait that long and also don't need to give XBONE any chance or hope of coming back and as it is,SONY will have PS4 SLIM in 2016 with price-cut effect from 2015end and also discount bundles and game

The 500gb model might go to $349 until the stock is gone, but i don't expect a real price cut this year. Unless MS goes crazy and cuts Xbox One to $299 there is no reason to. On average Xbone is already 50 euro's cheaper here and it doesn't seem to afect sales at all.

they had great 3rd party deal this year so they are fine

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

A temporary price cut for the holidays would take the wind right out of the xbox one's sails and ruin the "sell consoles during holidays" plan.

yes it does as XBOX mainly perform well in holiday as good as to coverup entire year lead and also MS can easily comeback with MICROSOFT history and profits

You're being a little to optimistic when it comes to your XBO expectations.
