I think Sony is not going to drop the price on PS4 for a very long time. A couple of months ago I thought it would be great to see them drop to $299.99 or $100 drop just like they did at the PS2's second E3. However, now I think they are going to go for a different business model.

PS4 is going to continue to become a greater and greater value at $399.99. Sony is adding features that make the PS4 a Cable Box/PC replacement. Due to this I don't think they will ever drop the price. I think we may have holiday deals, and phase out price cuts, but the $399.99 price point will always be the standard price for the newest PS4 model.

Over time I think Sony is going to work on bringing new tech to the PS4. Extra RAM for expanded multi-tasking, the newest USB, HDMI, Blue Tooth, NFC, and wireless network standards to keep it up to date with all other electronics.

I think the era of console coming out and degrading over time is coming to an end. I think both Sony and MS are going to add more value to the devices and keep them as premium and cutting edge devices.

they can outsell the xb1 only if theres a 50-70 dollar price difference any more than that for example if the cheapest xb1 is 299 sony will lose US

You kinda make it sound like it will be a crime if Sony doesn't do a price cut.

The PS4 will still sell well, regardless.

Which is good,I didn't say otherwise,I just explain how the writer thinks,but by some standards which sometimes can be wrong(such as being on 4 platfroms,and which platforms...) these sales might not be great but very good/good and for God's sake not bad,the thread maker just says that he had great expectations for it given some facts...

Plus that thread is about ps4 so he focuses on sales of ps4 version not overall,so it's misguided when we talk about ps4 and destiny is being mentioned to bring the total sales of it on all platforms!

USA recent sales worry you?They aren't big(also that depends on what standards each person has) but they are very good regardless what anyone thinks,xbox one is quite competitive in the USA,yeah it had its price slashed so that contributes a lot,but overall ps4 is doing exceptionally well!
Why cutting the price of a great-selling console,which on the whole is far above from the competition and sacrificing the profits especially now that gaming division of sony is their money maker or someone could say their savior?

Some pay to much attention to sales/dominate the competitor and defy the profits...But in this case ps4 isn't in danger!

You care if it loses the USA?Personally,I wouldn't...For example,if wii u was the dominating console and lost usa because of xbone,I wouldn't show much concern...

Although,If that won't hurt sony,then no problem from me!I said what I said with good will of course!It's beneficial for customers/ps4 wannabe owners!But for sure,I'm against a 100$ price drop,50$ firstly and later another 50$ that's more viable and effective and don't use ps2 which had a same price drop at its second E3',there was the manufacturing cost and financial margin for that to be done!

No. They need to compete against X1 in the USA. They don't need a price cut anywhere else, but in the USA they need to compete against X1 which is cheaper and also has Halo 5 this year.

I think they got away with it.
