If the first strategy is feasible, it should be preferred, while the first price cut, delayed to Q4 2016, could be bigger and more effective than $50. The best possible thing for Sony would be to be able to do the first cut at PS4 Slim launch. Right now they've been able to cut power consumption and weight by ~10%, but they'll need a die shrink of the APU to be able to make a Slim model, so major redesign schedule depends a lot on AMD. |
they actually have no big releases of exclusives just partnerships which should help PS4 big time this holiday and a coming $50 price-cut in September or October
PS4 is in a dominant position and have big games in 2016-2017 so they don't need to wait that long and also don't need to give XBONE any chance or hope of coming back and as it is,SONY will have PS4 SLIM in 2016 with price-cut effect from 2015end and also discount bundles and game
