Forums - Gaming - OPINION: Mainstream Gamers are the bane of this Industry's creativity and ideals

Agree with this. Just terrible. People should buy what they want to buy.

Video games as we know them would not exist without mainstream gamers. They are what keeps the video game market afloat and thriving. If the big 3 and publishers/devs weren't making money, we'd all be playing old school pc games.

You just don't know were to look for creative games buddy, this gen is the golden age of gaming if you want to play different types of games

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Yeah but what if mainstream gamers are dudebros now and play the same games every year who arent good at all? Games like Metal Gear Solid were considered mainstream back then but looked a some kind of coriousity now by the mainstream.

They put money but in the wrong direction now.

Let people get the games they want. Myself, I buy one fofa per gen and no cod or the like. Different customer buy different product, while the game I want keep launching I'm fine.

Or you can let people buy and play what they want?

Any money going into the gaming industry is good. There's no wrong direction for the most part. if the companies are doing well, they'll take more chances with new IP's and bringing back old series. I depise sport games and I no longer play COD, AC, GTA, god of war, battlefield, halo, gears and far cry. I lost interest in them all for one reason or another but other people pay to play 'em and that money helps in some way produce the games that I want to play.

Wut?

Money into the industry is always ALWAYS the right direction. The wrong drectoin would be buying those "cloned" ps4 for free games. getting your ps3/x360/wii hacked to play pirated games. buying a 3ds/nds flashcart to play illegaly backed up games... now thats the WRONG direction.

Some people..honestly... you guys think like you're the US of A... the world doesnt revolve and exists for you people

I hate Fifa and Call of Duty but every-time I see a group of friends or strangers playing them they all look so freaking happy, so much so that its impossible for me to get pissed or start lecturing them about "better" games. Mainstream games are mainstream because lots of people enjoy them. I know its cool to hate them but thats just your inner hipster taking over. Theres enough variety to cater to everyone in my opinion.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

EA's been doing the "roster upgrade" thing since the Super NES/Genesis days, not sure why that would be a new point of contention.

Each COD is a different game to be honest and they cycle in different studios to develop them.

I don't play Fifa but my friends swear they change it up every year, mostly in subtle ways that most people wouldn't even notice (but fans do). I remember them avoiding FIFA 10 (or maybe 11) because of poor mechanics or whatnot.
