Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why are big third party blockbusters skipping the wii u?

It would seem like quite a few people on here are answering this topic without viewing the actual OP. From here on please refrain from further mudslinging towards each other, otherwise this thread is going to end up locked. We'd like to prevent that. So please carry on in a more civil way.

In the spirit of the Bethesda conference too, those responsible for getting the thread locked after PwerlvlAmy's warning get to pick up a free ban on the way out.

That may be how it works in Japan, but in the West playing handhelds in public is punishable by permanent social ostracization.

It's not really a regional thing, its just a "time passing" sort of thing, in the late 80s, early 90s anyone with a handheld console in school was a kid magnet, was the same in the US, UK and Japan, all of which i spent time in as a kid.

My comment was at least 75% a joke anyway, picked up my old gamebrick from the teacher after school on well more than one occasion and never suffered for it socially.  Of course I was also an awkard, towering beast of a child too bullheaded to pick up on (or care about) the most basic of social cues so I'm probably not the best gauge anyway.

I doubt AC:Rogue did more on pc as COD/Ac4 on wii u. It was pretty same mistake as watchdogs on wii u, released half year later, no marketing. At least AC has a fanbase (watchdogs didnt) and the game wasnt hated as much as watchdogs.

Watchdogs poor sales are definitly not wii u´s fault. If you release something way later without marketing if will suck everywhere.

that comparison makes no sense. Why not compare the last AC game to release on Wii U and PC at the same time? Black Flag flopped on Wii U so i dont know where you are getting AC has a fanbase on Wii U it doesnt. .26mil is abysmal for a main AC title, hell the Vita one did better and that was a side story. Black Flag did .58mil on PC and thats JUST the hard copies thats not counting digital which we already know most of the sales for PC games come from there. I think 75% so this game pass the mil mark on PC alone. So yes AC does better on PC which is why it gets support. Not to mention its a freaking PC which most devs (especially western ones) use to develop games before they even work on the console version anyway.

Dont know what Watchdogs has to do with anything that game would have flopped regardless, i could give a list of games that were late ports that sold well on non Ninty systems but it would be ignored.

Here's the best estimate of how ACIV:BF did on Steam: http://steamspy.com/app/242050 It's around 700K. Keep in mind that this is a Ubisoft game, and this doesn't count sales through Ubisoft's Uplay AFAIK. Becasue VGC doesn't have a functional multiquote, I'll add Ghosts becasuse it was also brought up. COD:Ghosts broke 1.2 million on PC: http://steamspy.com/app/209160 And here's the link about the source of these numbers were arrived at: http://www.polygon.com/2015/4/3/8340537/steam-spy-scrapes-steam-user-accounts-to-estimate-sales-data

This E3 is going to be rough on Nintendo. For the fans, it will be like being on the mall without a cent on your pocket. Developers announcing new games left and right for Ps4, X1 and PC but not for the Wii U.

20 minutes into the Bethesda conference and Fallout 4, Dishonored 2 and Doom are already skipping the Wii U. This will happen in every press. So rough.

to be honest all games are 100% uninterasting for me anyways, wont buy those

these Zero alts are killing me. I cant stop laughing

Let's just ignore them. I feel that it lost all entertainment value about a year ago. And especially as a mod, it's super frustrating. Dealing with the alt itself is one thing but the backlash and sour moods that arise because of them is horrible, too many users have gotten into trouble due to an alt wreaking havoc on an otherwise decent discussion.

There's a reason they wanted more mods before E3 was upon us... The wisdom of Smeags.

Nintendo gamers are smarter than ps/ms so they won't buy sw when the best version isn't on their system. Let the dumb sony and ms fans buy subpar ports.

of course!

Took us 2 gens and several years of daily reminders to get it straight.

Thanks, even though this will be ignored becasue of reasons

OP If you saw the trailers for the third party titles at E3 titles you now know that they are well beyond that which the Wii U can handle.

NP. When I argue a point, I make sure to check the numbers first anyways.

That's entirely on Nintendo. Major 3rd party developers specifically said 8 GB of RAM, among other things, as far back as 2011. Nintendo decided to do their own thing, instead, and got burned because they executed it poorly.
