There will be innovation in the weapons, the over the shoulder aim from Into the Nexus which made the gameplay even better will still be there, and the new weapon upgrade system from Into the Nexus will also be there, and the jetpack from Into the Nexus might be there (Insomniac teased it). Honestly this game isn't here to innovate. It isn't a reboot, as the story fits perfectly into the canon (it is the same story with some additions) , they're just updating the first game as it was so vastly different from the later entries. Into the Nexus had tons of innovation. Don't know how much innovation you expect from each and every entry... And also have you heard about the brand new Clank gameplay that is in the game? Doesn't that count as something new?

It just boggles my mind how you still can't change your weapons in real time after the umpteenth iteration. That really breaks the flow of the game. They should implement something like in the Zelda games.

The dance weapon and animations looked great though, especially the break dancing boss.

And what is this new Clank gameplay? Haven't seen it.

How many weapons do you have in Zelda? 6-8? And you can select 3 to hot swap on the arrow pad. So 3 weapon swap without having to go into a clunky menu system. Gameplay is designed so using 3 items at a time is all that is necessary.

How many weapons are there in Ratchet and Clank? Most have 15-16. Going Commando has 24. Gameplay is designed so you might need to use 5-6 of these weapons within the span of a minute. I would rather take one second to get into a quick menu and select ant weapon I want, than constantly into a menu  assigning hot keys in zelda.

Both work great for each game, but Zelda is not R&C and R&C is not Zelda.

I actually love how they did that.... theres so many weapons that quick picking of one type, will be slow or messy...... by freezeing the game, you remove that messy part (and allow people to not be punished for slow button mashing ability), and allow people to think about their choices.

What you view as a negative, I think is a huge plus.

Come on, guys and gals. Let's keep it civil and on-topic.

Its hard to keep things civil when there is a user that comes to downplay ( its not the first time ) and keeps bringing nintendo in non nintendo game discussions just to downplay , its spam and its offtopic and only creates flames wars.

His opinion was legit, you guys are always talking about some comunities that don´t accept any kind of criticism and then some of you are the first ones to get extremely offended by a single opinion into an ocean of praise.

He is usually very critic (sometimes a bit annoying) with many Nintendo games too, this doesn´t have to be a fanboyism/hater thing.

He shouldn´t have bring Splatoon here, but hey, is not the third world war.

Criticizing a game is not spam or off topic.

Trying to attack me based on my console preference however is.

But I guess we're only allowed to praise games here, my bad.

Seriously, that's enough.

This thread isn't about Splatoon. It's not about Zelda. It's not about who gets away with what, and it's not a referendum on Nintendo or Sony fans.

Future off-topic posts will be subject to moderation. This is the second and final warning.

You do have a quick change in weapons by tapping triangle, although that's not quite changing weapons in real time. It might just be that I've gotten used to it, but the weapon changing doesn't bother me, it goes so quickly after some practice (which I have enough of when it comes to R&C ) that it's barely a blink.

They've only mentioned the Clank gameplay in an interview, and they said they weren't quite ready to show it off yet, so I'm not sure what it is.

Frankly though, I couldn't care less about how innovative it is, as long as it's smashing fun.
