Forums - Nintendo - Kotaku: Xenoblade Chronicles Import Preview -- 'in one word, it would be “boredom.'

Well, how will reviewers react to this game after Dragon Age Inquisition and The Witcher 3? Do you feel that Kotaku is being unreasonably harsh? Personally, the game needs to be really unique to strike a chord because the RPG bar had been raised by a decent amount.

i feel like kotaku is a hits site,.. most of their articles are unreasonable in one way or another to drive traffic.

I don't trust this preview. Xenoblade X is looking to be the best JRPG of this generation. It might be my Xeno bias, but Persona 5, SMT X FE, and KH III are also releasing, and I also love those franchises.

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Me!

Kotaku didn't like the first Xenoblade, either, so you know how much weight to give their opinion of this one.

Um?? http://kotaku.com/5898947/xenoblade-chronicles-the-kotaku-review

"Xenoblade Chronicles taught me an important lesson: Never trust the Internet." lol

Same writer, earlier this year.

"after replaying for a few hours on 3DS I think now I hate it." "when Xenoblade first came to the US (...) as I played, I kept looking for reasons to like it—I wanted to give it as fair a chance as possible. But in retrospect, I just can’t stand so many things about it."

Thats about the 3DS version specifically. Maybe it doesn't translate well to handhelds? Maybe the game aged badly?

"Keza MacDonald: I have, although not quite as much as I’d have liked to. I finished it on Wii, and despite the fact that I literally just played all the way through Majora’s Mask again on 3DS with no complaints, I’m finding Xenoblade a bit of a tougher sell on the handheld. I’m not anti-remakes. I’m pro-remakes. But a game like this is tough to play on the 3DS. That said, I’m amazed it runs it at all."

Seems pretty straightforward.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

All of them? Or just those with a "political" or "social justice" angle?

How can you legitimately make this claim without playing any of those games?

That dialogue sounds a lot like one of those Deadlock battles.

A: I love it!

B: I hate it!

A: Combat is brilliant!

B: Combat is stupid!

...and so on and so forth...

Well, this is the same writer who didn't think Xenoblade Chronicles was up to much, so why would he enjoy the sequel that much? I'm looking forward to it, but I do expect it will get a tougher time from reviewers than Chronicles did, and I fully expect some reviewers will take the line of "this is a different style of open world game to Witcher 3, therefore it is bad", which tends to happen after a high-quality, high-profile release.

Lack of legs on this game (compared to something like the Witcher 3 in Japan) tells me all I need to know. 300 hour+ game is nothing with 250 hours of filler.

Keza is not the one that did the review, that was Jason and that's the guy the_dengle quoted.
