Forums - Gaming - Has 'Gaming' got better or worse since 2006-2008 era?

That's an odd choice for an "era." You pretty much chose the switching point between two generations.

Anyhow, it's gotten worse. The game droughts are insane and even though Nintendo has been lauded for it's high quality software, I see it more as making up for horrendous console hardware than anything else.

Far worse, seems like this all this generation cares about is just graphics, graphics, and more graphics.. developers racing to see who can raise the bar on graphics. You can have the most visually stunning game ever, but if the gameplay is shit? Time heavily wasted.

Probably the main reason why indies and other non-major titles have been dominating for me.

8-9 years have passed, whats changed is you.

Worse imo. Heck just look at what happened in the Past year... Silent Hills got cancelled, Kojima got fired and MGS is most likely to go mobile next. Fuck dat

I honestly think it's better now. Sure, not all games now are perfect, but they definitely weren't then either. Maybe it's just me, but I got my first 360 in 2006, played Gears and CoD3, before leaving it as a dust collector. I got my PS3 in 2007, and really only played Resistance, Ratchet, and CoD4, until the really good games started coming out in late 2008. I've played my PS4 a lot more than I did my PS3 because there's a much wider offering now, than there was on PS3, at this point in it's lifespan.

Worse, but it's still early in the current generation.
There was the Grim Fandango remaster, that was a highlight.

I would say better. Consumers have more options for games, more genres from which to choose, and even more platforms to play them on. Personally, I can find games even cheaper. Last gen, I played on a console, this gen, I broke down and bought a gaming pc. If you wait for some steam sales, you can buy some high quality games for $5 or $10 and free online. It's easy get down on gaming due to a lot of bullshit that big publishers pull nowadays, but if you look for games outsaide of certain companies or wait for the review and watch gameplay videos so you know exactly what you are buying, there are a lot of options out there.

Worse, though IMO Nintendo has gotten better. HD + Nintendo is a freaking godsend.

So, what are the things that are worse? Seems to be quite popular, but not much in the way of explination.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Much worse, in both the way customers are treated and the excitement and awe I had/have. :(
