Forums - Microsoft - Anyone Concerned About Halo 5?

Why are people so convinced the game won't make it's date? This game has been in development for more than 3 years, they had a solid and big MP allready a year before launch and they have a date for over two months now. The game is finished and will release this year without problems

10M is guaranteed people. I don't think it will reach it as fast as Halo 3, but it will.

Just so we are all aware, Wikipedia is not a reliable source for information as anyone can edit it.

Vgchartz' data for Halo 3 may or may not be undertracked. Wikipedia is not the correct site to prove this one way or another.

The number did have a citation, and it links to a more reliable source.

Still, I'm not sure if Halo 5 will reach 10 million. Halo 3 had a much bigger hype machine behind it at this point before launch, and it had the advantage of being on a system that went on to sell over 80 million units. I think Halo 5 will be the XBO's best-selling exclusive, but 10 million may be elusive. If the XBO only sells 40-50 million units lifetime like I think it will, that would require Halo 5 to have a 20-25% attach rate. That's certainly possible, but by no means guaranteed. Halo 3's attach rate is about 18%, the highest on any of the Halo games on the 360. Whether or not Halo 5 reaches 10 million depends on how much of the series' player base stayed with Xbox this generation.

According to its wiki page, its sold in excess of 14.5 million copies (as of 2012). Its way undertracked on vgchartz.

Why nobody considered that there are digital sales too.... ?

Halo 4 was great so I'm not worried.

Actually I think half of the halo fan base are waiting for the bundle to buy an XBO... They could sell millions of console on halo bundles alone... The game will reach 10million Hal of which will be bundles... Especially if it's a 1go HDD with.... Not worried at all.... Quite the opposite actually COD are getting tired of it became the guitar hero of FPS

That's funny because I think the opposite that a lot of the diehard Halo fanbase already have the console. But I have no doubt that when H5 comes out a lot of the not-so-bothered fans of Halo will make a purchase

all the semi pro player I know and their teams in Europe and US haven't jumped for the mos part and from what I heard from them most haven't. But beside that just looking at numbers and statistically speaking most haven't.

I enjoyed halo 4's campaign for the most part so I'm not concerned about that, the multiplayer on the other hand was boring.

I don't see Halo 5 getting less than 85, unless they release a broken game and I don't think that's the case. MCC had some fanfare, but it was only a remaster after all. They won't do it to a main entry in the series.

This meta decrease is more linked to the innovation. Halo 1 and 2 were groundbreaking, while Halo 3 onwards rely on the solid foundations of the previous entries with less revolutionary improvements. That has some impact. Critics usually complain about a game being to similar to previous one. I personally see this as BS. If I like Halo, I want Halo. If I like Gears, I want Gears. If they changed the game deeply, it wouldn't be the same franchise.

Unless you are GTA. Then you can release a game that's not as good as a PS2-era one and still get 98 on meta.

Nothing to worry about. 343's best team is making Halo 5, Halo 4 was bug free with a perfectly running multiplayer mode. MCC might have looked bad to those wanting just to play MP but remember a different team worked on MCC and they were focusing on 4 games on 3 different generation consoles and bringing them together as one. If MCC wasn't broken that would have had a score in the low 90s easy, it sits on a 85 based on its multiplayer which is still one of the best rated next gen games out there.

Halo 5 is being made by 343's best and there only focusing on 1 game not 4. I don't think it will sit in the mid 90s in reviews but I would say it will hover around 88 - 92 metacritic.

Bungie made Destiny which was nothing great, Halo 4 and MCC are (judging off reviews) are better games and there both are made by 343. The company brand does not matter, its the devs behind the brand, not the brand itself.

Halo 4 sold 9 million units + so popularatiy isnt a problem, Halo 5 would sell more then 5 million+ you would think.

@Shadow1980:
Armor: There's some (weak) explanation right at the beginning. To be honest, the changes didn't hurt me at all. I think the new design was better. :-x
The Dawn: That was a miss. They used the wrong model.
Grunts: If there's an actual miss it is the breathing mask. I know people have been discussing the position of the toes as well as other things.
Jackals: Yes, the head changed. Though the body basically remained the same. Halo Reach already had som alterations, explaining that with subspecies and i think afterwards the Halo 4 jackals wher declared as a subspecies as well.

Last time i played Halo/Halo 2:
Halo Anniversary: last year
Halo CE: four years ago (just to be honest)
Halo 2 Anniversary: a bit over a month ago
Halo 2: last year

Halo CE had a decent story for it's time. THough being honest it wasn't that much of a story. Most of the time it left the player wondering what it's all about and experiencing. The latter one isn't a bad thing though. Many games tend to do to much with cinematics today instead of interactive experience when it comes to the story.
At that point Bungies storytelling was more or less like the industry standards, no offense.

Halo 2 well, i like it's basic storyline. Fanatism, a religious civil war breaking out and a lot of other things. At the same time it basically started to fall flat of the Halo lore. Could have told about the UN having become a militaristic regime which it is in Halo. And lots of other things. Other companies already managed to tell lesser stories in a better way.
At the same time Bungie already had moved from an experience to a told story.

Basically no other Bungie Halo had that Halo CE approach. All relied more on cutscenes and cinematics.

Finally QTE: I think that QTE are a bad design as a whole. But some are just terrible like that Resident Evil stuff, while others aren't hurting me much. The latter ones being of the Halo 4 kind.

I clearly understand that there is a fraction that doesn't like what 343 did at all. I just don't share that position.

Halo 4 was trash and the worst halo game ever outside of Wars.

The people who thought halo 4 is the best in the franchise are obviously 14 year olds who never owned an original Xbox.

But no. Not really concerned.
