Just buy a Switch and knuckle down until E3, it's what I'm going to do If I'm honest I agreed with Fable Legends cancellation + I understand why Lionhead was closed, I can also understand why they have cancelled Scalebound but it still hurts. I don't agree with Stormlands by Obsidian being cancelled or them shutting down Press Play (Luckily they kind of made up for that in my mind by giving them all their Ips back when they made a new studio) |
It's frustrating. I loved the original Xbox. I loved 360. I feel burnt by One. It took three years for something to come along that blew me away -- Gears of War 4 -- and I think that had a lot more to do with Rod Fergusson than Microsoft.
Fable is gone. Halo is not what it used to be. Rare is treading water. Scalebound is cancelled. Microsoft is sitting on a mountain of unused IPs. Backward compatibility and 6th gen remasters (while great) aren't doing the trick.
This is the problem. We know Microsoft is rolling in it. They're fantastically rich. They could easily recruit more talent, secure more exclusives, open new internal studios. But they're downsizing. It sends a signal to us that the company doesn't consider video games a priority. Even Scorpio, for all its raw power, isn't going to draw in new blood. It's going to appeal to a very narrow subset of fans.
