I think this is the first time I've seen Xbox Empire over 2,000 views for well......I can't even remember the last time xD.

Not a positive sign, seriously speaking.

It sucks that MS cancels so many games and closed studios but I never really understood what some in this and other forums saw in Scalebound. It looked always like it will be bad in my opinion.

And to be honest, all the other games they cancelled were also pretty mehh.

They absolutely need a higher output of games especially for genres they don't have much for but I don't miss any of the cancelled ones.

When was that Obsidian RPG game supposed to happen? I've never heard about it before but now it pisses me off. Seems like a terrible decision by Microsoft..

TBH the game was probably going to bomb anyways. But still some variety would help. This year with be another Forza and Halo game as their big titles again

This is one thing I hate about MS is they wont take any chances. It pissed me off when I had a 360. Sony releases so dumb exclusives but at least they are out there trying.

The Coalition also reduced the cost of Elite packs to 2000coins, operations pack to 800coins and future feature packs (like UIR one) to 2000coins or 4,99$! This is good stuff.

Clocktower is my all time favorite Gears map so it's very welcome addition. I'm not a huge fan of Blood Drive though. Hopefully we get new maps next month.

MS and their ugly af color schemes

Slade, save me! I'm trying everything in my power to support Xbox -- I've been buying multiplats on Xbox (best controller, duh), I've been telling anyone who will listen how great Gears 4 is, I'm racking up achievements like it's going out of style -- but it keeps boning me!

Scalebound hurts man. I was really excited for it. I need to see some life, some urgency from Microsoft Game Studios. What is happening? Studio closures, delays, cancellations. It's bringing me down :(

The industry is better with competition. It's better when Xbox is keeping PlayStation honest, and vice versa. I dunno, this just feels like the beginning of the end.

Just buy a Switch and knuckle down until E3, it's what I'm going to do

If I'm honest I agreed with Fable Legends cancellation + I understand why Lionhead was closed, I can also understand why they have cancelled Scalebound but it still hurts.

I don't agree with Stormlands by Obsidian being cancelled or them shutting down Press Play (Luckily they kind of made up for that in my mind by giving them all their Ips back when they made a new studio)

Xbox sucks, it's past saving. Might as well enjoy watching it's slow death over the next 5 years.

Come E3 you'll be sucking Xbox's dick again

Next thing we know 343 gets closed down tomorrow.

That would be a good thing though.....

Jk, I say 343 needs a big shake up though, keep most of the multiplayer team, all the forge team, get rid of the writing team and maybe get a new leader of 343 who will pick good spinoffs and better writers

Slade was a mod... for a day.

Wasn't talking about that tool

This E3 is going to be a hit or miss for MS. Prove that they mean serious buisness for Xbox and intend on releasing games 1st and second party by showing lots of new ips the stuff they already announced a new halo ot it will crash and confidence will be lost even more. The balls is in MS court.

Agreed, they need to go big this E3 or have multiple conferences.

I hope what I've been reading in here isn't true. If you are done with Xbox, you'll be integrated in the Nintendo camp. Do not ever make PlayStation your primary choice. That's like rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Xbox vs. PlayStation is like American politics. Two sides who are very similar and try to screw over people as much as they can while doing their best to create an environment where no other party can challenge them. The prime example of the console war is that online multiplayer did not become free on either system, but rather was put behind a paywall on both. This is possible because the competition generates supporters, and supporters are willing to take it in because they are able to point fingers at the other side and call them worse in whatever area they choose to. But what if hypothetically the Xbox wouldn't be here anymore? PS fans would be a lot less likely to accept the nonsense that Sony and third parties pull off, because there would be no proper scapegoat left. Indifference is a better driver for positive change than competition.

EDIT: I don't know what the general tone and discussion in thread usually is like, so if someone doesn't like my posts, just say so and I'll refrain from posting again.

Your post seems fine to me

I was looking forward to ScaleBound so it's disappointing news :(

Then again, it was expected to flop and if they had issues developing the game then I understand MS doesn't want to waste more money. X1 portfolio wouldn't necessarely benefit from another poor performing game with technical issues.

In any case, hopefully they have something nice to announce at E3 because 2017 is not looking too good. Good thing there's multiplats to look forward to, Gears 4 and Fifa17 to play and of course Scorpio :P But Phil needs to get his shit together with gaming, that's for sure.

Yeah I expected it to flop too, I think most of us did and whenever I spoke about the game it was always about the potential the game had and not what it actually looked like (because it looked bad)

Damn, I saw Scalebound canceled in this thread title and saw 14k posts and wondered what the fuck was going on. Turns out its the XBE thread lol.

The other thread might get that soon enough

I see people mixing two different issues together, Scalebound cancellation and Microsoft's lack off first party studios. I know one of them affect the other, but Microsoft shouldn't get blamed for the cancellation. The developer should get most of the blame here. This should have been a 2014 project and yet they couldn't delevery it on 2017! 4+ years developing a game and you still aren't close to release it? And guess what, people weren't that impressed with what they saw last August!

I agree with all of you that Microsoft should be blasted about their weak first party team. At its current state, they can only produce two games per year and they should actually produce less.

But unless they proved otherwise, developer should be the one who get blamed on this case.

Yeah we should wait until we have more information, it does sound like Platinum took on more than they could handle.

I LOVE GIGGS said:
Since we're talking about Microsoft studios, isn't 343 too big to be handling only one franchise? The thread that just posted on Gaf says they have 450+ employees. When they started the studio they braged about how they acquired the most talented and the best in business. They should split them to three teams:
Team 1: 200+ employees to handle main Halo games.
Team 2: 150+ employees to handle develop other games.
Team 3: 50+ employees to handle Halo spin-offs and non-gaming projects.

343 isn't just a game team though, they are literally the Halo studio and they handle EVERYTHING Halo from books, shows, toys, games (Mainline and Spinoff) out of that 450+ only half of them might be actual game developers I think it's too late for 343 to be split into two teams honestly but not for Coalition, I'd love to see Rod create a new IP.

Ah I see we hit the Xbox is doomed -phase again :)

Just a few months ago we got to play some amazing exclusives, the new X1 model was selling well and we were excited about upcoming über-console. How quickly things change hehe

People are going to be like that for a while probably, just going to have to wait it out since MS has a habit of saving all their positive news for E3

A lot of Xbox fans will probably stop caring about this in a few months.

Positive side, this news is doing wonders for Xbox Empire's activity lmao.

I read on gaf that the 450+ number we hear about at 343 is game development staff only. That it does not count all the toy stuff, or book stuff or any of that.

Rockstar like Bethesda is re-branding/re-releasing some of their 360 B/C games too.

Seams like a good tactic to increase sales. Actually looks like a Xbox one release.
