Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why gets Microsoft a Free Pass when it comes to droughts unlike Sony for this year?

crackred said:

if you Name games like until dawn and other low Budget / indie games / low recognition franchises,
xb1 has screemride, ori and the blind forest, and even state of decey if you would like to add Remakes in the frist half

the complain is about no big tripple AAA first Party games and delays
and afther the order and bloodborn, there is not much left for the ps4

edit: op asked why sony got complains and microsoft not. thats the explanation
so if you dont like that "opinion" or not, does' matter for the topic

Have you seen Until Dawn gameplay? It has high budget actors in there so it's not a low budget indie game. Ori and state of decay are on lastgen/PC. This thread is talking about Exclusives like BB, Order and Until Dawn.

The difference is that MSFT actually gave us good games to play last fall, so there is somewhat of a hangover. Plus if you count until dawn, how can you ignore Ori and the Blind Forest or State of Decay YOSE, heck or the new seasons of KI. Also NeverWinter has a ton of players, why doesn't that count.

Judging by overall reaction the last good game ps4 had was either tlou remastered in July or infamous in march. That is the difference.

Lol, you don't actually want to get into comparing digital only titles, do you?

And *facepalm* at that last sentence.

I would take Ori over MLB and until dawn 100/100.

So you are saying The Order and Driveclub were well received,  or LBP3 that sony sent out to die, or Guilty Gear Xrd that I would have never heard of if not fot fans started using lists to justify their purchase.  What am I missing?

Are you serious? What are you missing? How about you think long and hard about this again.

Microsoft just had Ori and the Blind Forest, Screamride, D4, and State of Decay this year. And then they are releasing some of the biggest franchises in gaming this fall and winter. MS doesn't need a free pass, there's no drought on their side.

Sony may not have the best lineup this year, but there's still stuff to play on that side too.

D4 was released last year.
Ori and State are on PC.

PS4 has had 2 big exclusives so far this year, with 'smaller' ones like Until Dawn coming later aswell.

And special mention to GOW3 and USFIV. E3 hasn't hit yet, and if we're counting PC games into it No Man's Sky is also on the way this year.

Also BB launched in March and the next big game won't be until Uncharted. I would rather have holiday releases than a gap that big, 13 months probably. (Using assumptons just like you did)

Dog, you trippin.

You wanna talk about Ori and State of Decay because Until Dawn was brought up? Until Dawn, the retail exclusive vs Ori and SoC, the arcade/indie non-exclusive games? If that's the case,  I've got a giant list of indie/arcade games that are PS4/PC that would make this whole thread irrelevant if we're putting those games into the conversation. I think you're trying to belittle Until Dawn with that comment, but it looks to be in the same vein as Heavy Rain. So I wouldn't wanna go down the downplaying route with that one. Especially since you know we're talking about exclusive by saying "the next big game won't be until Uncharted"...and while simultaneously talking about multiplatform indies.

And the issue here is about a supposed "drought". Don't talk about 2014 games when we're in 2015. Otherwise, despite your, again, downplaying, DriveClub and LBP3 can get thrown into the mix, and despite your objections, they are good games. So there's "still a hangover". Even though the only holiday exclusives for XBOne last year were the broken MCC and Sunset Overdrive (DC was broken, but has been fixed, and LBP3 has comparable fun factor to SO, so don't knock those games when they were received and performed very similarly to the games that gave you "a hangover")

Now, regarding 2015 up til now, and moving forward, if you think the next big game won't be until Uncharted, you are being willfully blind. Godzilla, Dragon Quest Heroes, Disaega 5, Persona 5, Tearaway Unfolded and more. Unless you're trying to redefine "big"? Some kind of high budget, potential 2-4M seller? Then what has the XBOne had since Titanfall and will come out until Halo 5? Pick your poison, man. If you don't count DC by saying it's not "big", then you can't count SO, for example.

Well this thread looks like it was fun ^^

OT: From what I've seen neither has gotten a 'free pass'. MS's exclusive line-up leading to the holidays has been dreadful, and Sony's during it looks to follow suit (though we'll have to wait until after E3 before we can be certain on either).

Oh goody a list war, just what we needed

I'm confused though it's been said a few times in this thread we"re talking about exclusives. Now when we talk PS4 exclusives, is it really fair to be listing games that are on PS3 as well? I mean Screameide and Ori don't count since they are on 360, or PC, but does the same reasoning apply to the PS games?

well im talking about retail not digital, and since i never had a problem counting games like Forza Horizon 2, Halo MCC (games also on 360) and Tomb Raider (which is supposed to have a 360 version that kind of dissapeared), then i dont have a problem counting games that are PS3/PS4.

EDIT: that being said im not starting a "List war" between the two. im just showing that there is no "drought" of exclusives on the PS4 the only thing that has changed this year is that Uncharted 4 got pushed to 2016.

amazing how much a difference on perception a game like that can do.

Don't worry, I never had any issue with your post. Just seeing conflicting reports from the OP. :/

Because nobody cares about the XBO on this site. Middle child syndrome.

Like I said in another thread, people are happy with multiplats for the XB1 for 10 months of the year (WITHOUT AAA exclusives) but they think PS4 owners shouldn't be happy with mutilplats for 2 months of the year (WITH AAA exclusives). It's the annual bate and switch. If people can't see how absolutely bonkers that is then I don't know what to say.
