Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why gets Microsoft a Free Pass when it comes to droughts unlike Sony for this year?

I see it this way:

Xbox One is the underdog this generation and people love a good underdog and will constantly praise it, meanwhile the perceived winner will always be downplayed. Also Halo 5 is probably more appreciated as an exclusive than any exclusive Sony has in 2015. It was actually a great idea that Uncharted was delayed, sure the PS4 has almost twice the user base of the XBO but Halo 5 would have stolen a ton of sales from Uncharted 4. As far as I see it Sony is doing a great job releasing all these exclusives early as this is the one of the only time this generation where the XBO has the chance to destroy the PS4 during the holiday season.

Different standards. A steady flow of games is expected from Sony. From other companies maybe not so much.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Well this thread got better since last night...

How about this: screw you MS for your sad output the first 6 months, and screw you Sony for your sad output the last 6 months.

Done.

Oh goody a list war, just what we needed

I'm confused though it's been said a few times in this thread we"re talking about exclusives. Now when we talk PS4 exclusives, is it really fair to be listing games that are on PS3 as well? I mean Screameide and Ori don't count since they are on 360, or PC, but does the same reasoning apply to the PS games?

This is what I think of each fanbase, based on the release dates of games on their system:

Sony: Buy games throughout the year, finish them, then buying a new one.

Microsoft: Buy games in bulk during holidays, keep playing them till next holidays.

Nintendo: Buy a game, play it, then wait for the next exclusive.

PC: Buy games in bulk during Steam sales, keep playing them till the next sale.

The Xbox One has no exclusive AAA games so far and will continiue having no Major releases until at the very end of September when Halo 5 comes out. Thats 9 entire Months with no games in this year.

Yet if Sony delivers games like Bloodborne, Order, MLB 15, Until Dawn until august and comes in a situation where they have a drought for 3 months people are so disspointed about Sony and saying this and that. Even before E3 has started.

Yet where is the same critisim for MS having no major games for 9 entire Months?

Simple, while they aren't able to program more than one decent OS every six years, they know how to program lusers.

Because xbox has gotten tons of hate ( rightfully so) and now it's the underdog. People love to cheer on the underdog.

I doubt these discussions have any weigh on the actual sales. The way I see it, people are putting a lot of sub-conditions on what an "exclusive" is when the market honestly doesn't care. The users who contribute to these list wars each have their own interpretation on what games would improve the quality of their console of choice (and consequently, what they think should translate into sales)  in comparison to it's competitor based on the time period of their release, and unfortunately, their reception and budget.

.- -... -.-. -..

Xbox One has sold like half as much as PS4 so I don't think people are giving it a free pass.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

The difference is that MSFT actually gave us good games to play last fall, so there is somewhat of a hangover. Plus if you count until dawn, how can you ignore Ori and the Blind Forest or State of Decay YOSE, heck or the new seasons of KI. Also NeverWinter has a ton of players, why doesn't that count.

Judging by overall reaction the last good game ps4 had was either tlou remastered in July or infamous in march. That is the difference. Also BB launched in March and the next big game won't be until Uncharted. I would rather have holiday releases than a gap that big, 13 months probably. (Using assumptons just like you did)
