Both but I would go with popular games though they are mostly better than niche games.

Popular. Mainly because the niche games don't get advertised, for the most part. So I hardly ever know about them. Like Disgaea. I only know it because a friend of mine loves the series. And post pictures of his games. I didn't know about Shovel Knight. Till it became a popular game.
