Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Fans Vs. Third-Party Developers & Entitlement

So we are excluding Handhelds, right? When we talk about nintendo in general, we talk generally the home console segment?
I get it now

Thats the thing though, the wiiU had the worst versions in one way or another. Whether it be by performance issues or missing DLC, for majority of the third party games, it was the worst version

And cod on the wii was the worst version... So it makes sense as to why it sold the least

There is no denying that Nintendo fan's buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo exclusives but I highly doubt that the third party's gimped versions weren't the causes for the bad sales as well...

PS versions were a lot worst than Xbox on begin of last gen... Bayoneta was basically unplayable on launch.. they still sold on par... not 1/20 on basically the same game but worst graphic, that we are supposed to believe it doesn't matter.

Hmm, that is true... Maybe 160rmf is right, Sony fans do/can settle for less

Hense the word choice of entitlement? seems fitting enough.

If the resolution is lower, or the fps, maybe it all comes down to hardware of the consol? it is alot weaker than the other two.

Its not realistic to expect to have the "best" version of any 3rd party game on the Wii U.

And it shouldnt stop people from buying a game, if they like what they see gameplay wise.

Huh... I didn't realize not settling for an unplayable game is considered being entitled... I could swear that not buying an unplayable game ment that you were a smart shopper...

Also I was comparing it to the ps3/360 versions and I also said "One way or another" which meant that it would be gimped either by graphics/performance or missing dlc. While graphics and performance wasn't the issue with all of the third party games, missing dlc was the case with majority of the third party games

Just for that third parties dont need Nintendo and Nintendofans... argument:

It's actually Nintendo that needs third party to get gamers on board that are not so specific Nintendo fans.

Otherwise and the Wii 'accident' taken aside it's 62m>49m>33m>22m>~15m>under 10m>dead.

Why do people always take out Wii! Is it Nintendo's fault it struck gold? Do we not count PSP huge success with vita being 15mil-20mil and the next HH doing 10mil-20mil? :0

"Wii Accident" :-/ And people exclude HHs too which Nintendo strives at!

If you looked at the complete picture, then the point you are trying to make wouldn't make any sense.

Anyway, find another thread to post in.

Excluding the Wii, the trend is Nintendo HC decling every gen = Complete Picture.

But Wii has to be called an accident/doesnt count/lucky/etc.

See this is the thing, most people who rag on Nintendo fans for not buying third party games, dont have a Nintendo system in the first place themselves so they cant see where Nintendo fans are coming from this current generation.

People tell Nintendo fans they should buy third party games and support third party developers, yet nearly every third party game that has been released on Wii U this generation has been gimped or missing features that should be in the game and charge full price for it and people expect Nintendo fans to buy the game just because. That doesn't make any sense.

So it leaves Nintendo fans in a weird situation, sure Nintendo fans need to buy third parties and support them to show that third parties should support Nintendo consoles, but at the same time, third parties dont even treat Nintendo users with the same respect that they do the other consoles, so it goes back to ''why should Nintendo fans support half assed efforts''

Weird situation indeed

Well there were games like Tekken Tag Tournament 2 on the WiiU who are the defenitive versions from japanese devolopers espacially yet still sold pretty low.

Also most third party games like assassins creed and COD are not fun anyway

God I hate that sentiment. I really wish we had a standard way of measuring fun, otherwise it sounds like rhetoric and hot air.

This. Also hate the false statement that Third Party Games consist solely on Call of Duty and Assassins Creed games.

Judging by sales, for most ps an xb users 3rd party (the system itself) consists solely on COD and AC plus GTA, racing sims and anual sports games.

Yes, i know about nintendo situation: Mario, Pokemon and Zelda. but i also know that nintendo 1st and 2nd party support don't resume on that

There is more than just 13-35 year old males that enjoy games. Kids, females, parents, these are types of gamers Nintendo should heavily invest in.

Of course that doesn't mean Nintendo should completely ignore teenage/adult males but they shouldn't be the main focus, there should be a healthy mix of support for all types of demographics. Nintendo should continue and increase what they have done with games like Bayonetta 2, Fatal Frame V, Devil's Third while expanding on that and get some more western focused titles thrown in the mix.

So more barbie games on the nintendo systems is all that needs to happend? Ironically there already are nintendo only versions of many barbie games....

Like Barbie Dreamhouse Party, its only found on Wii/Wii U/DS/3DS. I think Nintendo already is the most girl friendly consol, and it doesnt look like thats helped it any.

But yeah I support your idea that nintendo needs more mature content, that is aimed more at older males as well that play games.

No, it doesn't need cheap shovelware crap, females still enjoy quality games, some examples of games with strong female appeal are Animal Crossing, Tomodachi Life, Art Academy, Style Savvy, Just Dance, Rhythm Heaven, Super Mario Bros, Cooking/Gardening Mama, Wii Fit, Mario Kart, Guitar Hero, The Sims, Pokemon. Nintendo needs to invest in more new ip that appeal to females, not cheap, shitty, shovelware games.

Handhelds aren't home consoles.

And Wii was an 'accident'. Something Nintendo couldn't repeat and wont ever be able to repeat. Wii is a total exception. It more of exception proves the rule than anything else.

Yes, Wii was a lucky hit, a total exception.

It as well doesn't matter for the Vita at all that its predecessor was a success. Vita will very likely Sonys last handheld.

There has been a lot of uproar about the Wii U version of Project Cars being in jeopardy, but it's pretty obvious that a large chunk of these people who are upset had little interest in the game to begin with and were not familiar with the game's development. This can be seen by the huge amount of misinformation being spread around. For example I see the following a lot:

SMS took advantage of people with the kickstarter, they used their money with the promise of making a Wii U version.

There was never a kickstarter for this game, it was a http://www.wmdportal.com/ campaign as captain carot pointed out. Also the head of SMS has comfirmed that more than 95% of funding for the game was raised when the project was classified as a Free to Play PC racing game. Only after funds were raised did they expand the project to include a console release.
